What BestPlaces Users Say about San Jose

San Jose is the third largest city in California and is considered to be the heart of Silicon Valley. Known for its booming tech industry and diverse population, many people choose to call this city home. However, living in San Jose can also come with a high cost of living and intense traffic. In order to get a better understanding of what it's like to live in this city, I have included a summary of user reviews from bestplaces.net.

User Reviews:

1. From Alice_L: "I've lived in San Jose for over 10 years and I absolutely love it. The weather is unbeatable and there are endless activities and events to keep you entertained. However, housing prices are through the roof and traffic can be a nightmare during rush hour."

2. From JohnDoe45: "I moved to San Jose for work and have mixed feelings about it. On one hand, the job opportunities are great and the city is very diverse. But on the other hand, I struggle with the high cost of living and the lack of affordable housing options."

3. From SarahSmith85: "San Jose is a great place to raise a family. There are top-rated schools and plenty of parks and recreational activities. The only downside is the cost of living, which can be tough for families on a budget."

4. From SiliconValleyGal: "As someone who works in the tech industry, living in San Jose is a dream come true. The job opportunities are endless and the city is constantly evolving. However, the cost of living can be a big barrier for many people, and the traffic can be unbearable at times."

Based on the user reviews, it is clear that San Jose has many positive aspects, such as great weather and job opportunities. However, the high cost of living and traffic are common concerns among residents. Despite these challenges, many people still choose to call San Jose home and enjoy the diverse and vibrant community it offers.

Housing - 11/27/2007
Trying to buy a home in the Bay area is next to impossible, if you're not wealthy. My husband and I make $345,000 and yet all the nice homes in good school districts are at least $1.5 Read More

Downtown San Jose - 7/30/2007
Recent developments in San Jose are making the downtown area a new hotspot for nightlife, dining, and living. However, I feel like their is not enough creativity and that it lacks a personality. Despite this I feel like it is one of the most interesting big cities because it is generally clean and Read More

A Nice Place If You Can Afford It. - 7/18/2007
San Jose pretty much suffers from the negative attributes of all the other highly populated areas of California. The cost of living is absolutely ridiculous (even by CA standards), the traffic can be unbearable, and the public schools are not great. Like any other big city, San Jose has good areas and bad areas...but honestly, the good areas far outnumber the bad areas. In fact, there really are some very nice places to live here...if you can actually afford it. San Jose's location and weather really can't be beat. The beach is less than 40 minutes away, San Francisco is about an hour away, Monterey is a little over an hour away...basically it's right in the middle of everything. If you can overlook its faults and embrace its many positive attributes (and if you can afford it), San Jose really does have a lot to offer its residents. I live a very good life here, and I really can't Read More

Gas - 6/19/2007
GAS is expensive everywhere. But here, in San Jose it's always 30 to 50 cents more a gallon then other places in the state.
It's a captive audience that has to drive to work every day.
On the bright side my Mobil stock is doing well.
