Taft... No Stars - 2/17/2019
I’ve lived here over 50 years. It use to be a wonderful place to grow up with a thriving downtown and jobs were plentiful. This is no longer the case in Taft. Jobs are scarce and low paying when you can find them. As far as shopping, it’s Albertsons and Dollar Tree. Shops in town are few and overpriced. We have become overrun with homeless tweekers. Law enforcement seems powerless to control them or the steadily climbing crime rate they cause. Theft is rampant and not just in bad neighborhoods. New business doesn’t stand much of a chance unless they are friends with or pay off the city council. Most people here don’t see much chance for improvement in the near future. It’s a pitiful situation. Bullying is widespread in the schools and little is done to stop it. Teachers and Administrators tolerate it rather than deal with it. If I could afford to move away, I certainly would do so. I wouldn’t recommend living here to anyone I care about and definitely not to families with children to Read More

If you want to be happy in Taft, you definitely ca - 10/21/2016
I've lived in Taft for over 5 years. It's a nice community and very friendly people as long as you get involved, either through school or local churches. I've met many wonderful people here. Taft is not for everybody, but it's a great place to start a family and go to school. The high school is awesome, but if you have a teenager you might want to take plenty of trips outside the city to keep them entertained. It's a bit hard living here if you're between 20-50 if you don't have a certain purpose. Bottom line, if you want to be happy in Taft, you definitely can. Read More
