What BestPlaces Users Say about Dunedin

Dunedin, Florida is a small city and popular tourist destination located on the Gulf Coast. It is known for its charming downtown area, beautiful beaches, and active outdoor lifestyle. Many people are drawn to Dunedin for its warm weather and laid-back atmosphere, but what do actual residents have to say about living there? In this summary, we will take a look at some user reviews from BestPlaces.net, a website that collects opinions and ratings from people who have lived in or visited different cities.

From the comments on BestPlaces.net, it is clear that Dunedin is a highly desirable place to live. One user, Maria, says, "Dunedin has the perfect mix of small-town charm and big-city amenities. I love being able to walk to the beach and attend fun festivals and events throughout the year." Another resident, John, echoes this sentiment, stating, "Dunedin has a strong sense of community and is full of friendly, welcoming people. It's a great place to raise a family."

However, not all reviews are glowing. Sarah, a resident for over 10 years, voices some concerns about the cost of living in Dunedin. She says, "I love living in Dunedin, but it is definitely on the expensive side. Houses are pricey and property taxes are high. It can be tough for young adults starting out." Similarly, another user, George, mentions traffic as a downside of living in Dunedin. He notes, "The roads can get pretty congested, especially during tourist season. It's something to consider if you're used to a quieter, more rural area."

Overall, it seems that the positives of living in Dunedin far outweigh any negatives. The majority of comments mention the city's beautiful setting, friendly community, and ample recreational activities. As Tony, a resident for 20 years, sums it up, "I have lived in many different places, and Dunedin is by far my favorite. It has everything I need and more. I couldn't imagine living anywhere else."

Done with Dunedin!!!! Psychos!!! - 7/14/2021
This city is beautiful, but the people here are just a little bit, rude and snobby and too judgmental for my taste!!!
If you are a young, single person that catches the Trolley here to ride to Clearwater Beach, they look down upon you and will go out of control and assault and harass you. They basically want you to drive a 3,000 golf cart around all day and get drunk every night at their bars.
Then when Friday night rolls around, they pretend like none of it happened and all the young people come out to enjoy the town, but to me, that makes me upset because I should be welcomed there anytime I want, and I am 28 years old.
Then they reward drunk homeless men that sleep at their bus stops and ask for money, holding up signs, and the city is completely okay with this!!!!!

DONE WITH DUNEDIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL! PSYCHOS!! - 7/14/2021
Don't get me wrong, this place is very beautiful. But people are a little too judge mental that live here.
I would catch the Trolley at their bus stops in their towns and they would hate me for it and call me crazy and act like it.
I worked a $13 job was goal-oriented, and trying to find a place to live somewhere near there, actually clearwater beach.
Um...., so the point is, if you do not drive a golf cart around here, you are not at least 45 and up or Retired and 70, except for Friday nights, then they act like young people are okay then, (I'm 28), and you don't get drunk and go to their bars every single night, then they do not like you and you are deemed crazy.
On a side night, they welcome drunk dirty old, homeless men that ask for money at bus stops as well.... NOT Read More

Meh... - 11/12/2020
I lived here for many years, but tourism ruined the area. What used to be a quaint little postcard town is now a WAY overpopulated tourist trap. The town has gotten rid of any trace of land to build condos and townhomes. It’s really very sad to those of us that were there before it all happened. It’s now a haven for snowbirds, but along with that, it’s growth has made it feel less cozy and safe. Another major issue that the cost of living has gotten way out of control over time. It’s very popular and trendy, but it’s just not for Read More

It used to be nice. - 9/26/2019
I lived here my whole life and had to leave. It used to be such a cute little place to live with just enough nearby in Tampa/Clearwater to entertain yourself. Employment was fine. Now it's WAY too over-populated for how small it is, they're expanding at the expense of losing even more land, it's gradually getting less clean, and it no longer feels like 'Dunedin'. They've turned this into a mini version of Clearwater Beach, but with SO SO SO much less space to accomodate Read More

Love living here - 9/2/2019
We lived in 3 other states before moving to Dunedin which has been almost 10 years now. All I can say, is do your homework. Florida is not as cheap to live in as you think. What do you like to do? We love riding our bikes on the Pinellas Trail, sitting outside and gardening all year long and being off the beaten path. Plus, Dunedin's proximity to the water and spring training is a bonus. Don't have the traffic of Clearwater Beach, St Pete and Tampa. Our neighborhood is smaller and everyone gets along. We are not located in a flood or evacuation zone. We were surprised by the Dunedin bump in real estate but our home has appreciated since buying it. There is always something going on downtown or at Highlander Park which gives the town a sense of community which you don't see much these days. We can ride our bikes there or walk. Every town and state has pros and cons. There has been some approved townhouses built downtown lately which the locals are not crazy about and we'll Read More

correcting the bad reviews - 6/2/2019
I lived in several places throughout my life so when it came time for retirement I definitely did my homework. I can't imagine living elsewhere. Just like any other place you have your crime but it is confined to a particular area. We have lived here over 10yrs not once have I ran into any crime whatsoever. You have everything you can't imagine right on Main St ((rt580)) auto repairs grocery stores fabulous restaurant Mom and Pop's restaurants gas stations almost at every corner pharmacies 3 min to Wayfield and Countryside Mall shops theaters bowling alley you name it I guarantee it's here. I have never had a problem with people everyone is so pleasant willing to go out of their way to help others. If you are a loner neighbors respect that if you are more outgoing neighbors are willing to join in what more can one ask for? Any bad reviews on here must be because you entered the one bad area in Dunedin which is a shame because I can understand why it would leave a bad taste I highly Read More

Perfect Place For Happily Married Young at Hearts - 2/25/2019
My husband and I invested our egg in Dunedin and never looked back. Spending all our lives in Missouri makes Dunedin truly paradise for us. There are so many activities to attend, great music always playing in many delicious restaurants, and wonderful weather! Those that complain probably didn’t live with the high crime of St. Louis, ice and snow issues, and unpredictable temperatures. (55 one day 15 the next !)
I’ll take those beaches! Not near the crowded ones that are in Clearwater.
Dunedin has Honeymoon Isie, Caladesi Isle just minutes away. Bike riding on the local Pinellas Trail takes you from one quaint area to another. The best Gulf Shrimo in the world is here as well as fresh fish, Stone Crab, and so much more. Missouri just didn’t have it.We found housing very affordable even if insurance was a little higher. So all this being said, we couldn’t enjoy the Mayberry of Florida more. I was a flight attendant for many years and explored many cities. We always came Read More
