Best Place to Live - 12/11/2015
I love living on the Emerald Coast! I love the slight changes in seasons, love the sound of our air force representing our freedom flying overhead, love the snow white beaches that we all get to boast about and I love the friendly, southern people that live here.

I love helping others find their perfect home here in Niceville. It's the best place to Read More

Niceville - 7/7/2015
Small growing town in panhandle of Florida. Close to Eglin and Hurlburt Air Force Bases. Excellent Schools, College, Beaches, Fishing and Nice Folks!! Housing prices are going up as most of the land surrounding is owned by the Air Force. Annual Mullet Festival, 5 acre dog park, Kids park/water park-library-skateboard park-police-fire-city hall-water dept all in one location. Cross the toll bridge to Destin for shopping galore and many restaurants and local watering holes. There are No Bars in Niceville. Alcohol is served at restaurants only. Go to Destin or Fort Walton for Bars. It is Small town Read More

Life in Niceville, Florida - 10/4/2012
Situated about 10-14 miles from the Gulf Of Mexico through either Fort Walton Beach to the south/south west or Destin to the south/south east.

Nicville practically radiates dullness - 1/14/2010
This town is primarily a family-oriented place. A wonderful place to raise children and have a slow, stress free life. As for the entertainment, I'd rate it very low as compared to a big city such as Orlando.
There isn't much to do, beside go to a local theater or visit the small shops and restaurants around town. The churches provide much of the recreation for young children and families but teenagers are left to their own devices (drugs and alcohol and unfortunate but a truthful choice for some).
Many residents go to our neighboring cities of Destin and Fort Walton Beach for their fun, both about a 15 minute drive.
There is no spectacular form of amusement that isn't in other towns. The one redeeming quality is the mullet festival which is featured once year and is quite a big attraction. Many country singers come down for live Read More

Ratings on Various Items - 9/1/2009
I was stationed at Eglin for 6 years (with a break to go to Korea for one year) and I question some of the ratings from this site. First of all, i will say that the area is very nice to live in as far as climate and access to the beaches. To live in an area where people vacation has its upside. As a military member, I was fortunate to have access to the military beaches, so crowding wasn't that great a concern. Also, if you know where to go, even the general public can find uncrowded beaches to enjoy.

The rating of people only being 46% religious is highly doubtful! I would wager nearly 99% are affiliated with a church, and relatively fundamentalist at that! Evolution is considered questionable by the population, and Young Earth Creationism is a prevalent opinion. As an open atheist there, I had property vandalized, and the police were unwilling (or unable as they reported) to follow up on it just for expressing those views.

Niceville Schools. - 10/8/2007
Who are all these people giving positive rankings of these schools. It is all fake. These schools are riddles with false claims. Listen to your students not the staff. They have for years tooted a brilliance horn that doesn't exist. The homeschool program is the best in this area and the county schools know its their greatest competition. The schools are riddled with drugs and crime but it goes ignored because if it gets reported the rep goes down. Parents trully listen to your kids they are not the ones lying to you the good old girl and boys club around here Read More

Housing - 10/8/2007
The housing here is terrible. I have lived here for 20 yrs. The housing boom hit and the realtors out priced the market. The only people who will survive here are the ones who bought 20 years ago. The homes were origianally bought by military retiree's or military officers. Neither have done anything to their homes in 20-25 years. Now they expect you top come in and buy their problems. Most houses will need new roofs major appliances relaced, termite damage repair, frosted windows from broken seals, new ac/ and heaters and there are a lot of chimmneys thatare overlooked from hurricane damage. The officers move in destroy houses and in two years move out. The retirees simply don't do anything to maintain their houses and go into homes or pass on. There children can'yt get rid of these homes because the repairs are to extensive. I am moving out of here as soon as possible like everyone else because the place is dead. There is nothing to do because Destin has blocked our passage to the Read More
