On the decline for 10 years now - 9/12/2021
Port Orange WAS great 10 years ago. It's been on a slow decline for 10 years now. I really like my neighborhood. The schools are good, and the place is safe. The presence of the police is a catch 22. It's great for keeping Port Orange safe, but the general sense is that they are generating income more than serving and protecting the community. The opportunity to be a great place was there, but instead of using western Port Orange (Williamson/I-95/near I-4 area) to bring in some tech jobs (those are in Orlando or on the Space Coast) or other higher paying jobs, the city decided on bringing every fast food restaurant and a ridiculous amount of apartment complexes. To make good money you leave Port Orange. Weekend traffic is horrible, due to all the apartments, fast food, and chain shopping places are all on the same four roads. With the amount of low income jobs and apartments, in 10 years Port Orange will become a mini Daytona. We'll ride it out for now & sell high on the next Read More

Too overdeveloped and crowded - 9/20/2018
I've lived in this city for over 15 yrs. It USED TO BE a great place to live.
It is now extremely over-developed. The traffic on Dunlawton, Nova and Clyde Morris can not only be crowded, but also dangerouus.
There are a ridiculous amount of conveniemce stores, restaurants, bars and unfilled shopping strips.
There are way too many trailer parks. Most are senior living and well kept.. However; this adds to the extreme congestion.
Tree City? If it once was; they're working hard to tear them down now.
Positives.. It is near the beach and there are a few parks, many gyms and medical facilities.

Beautiful Town - 3/22/2018
I live here. I have lived in North Florida, and South Florida, and now here. It is a lovely town. I love how they leave natural trees and hammocks when they build. I love the ocean nearby. I love the bridge over the river. I love the restaurants. I love the great schools. It is a pretty town, with nice people. I don't like how the Dunlawton corridor is overcrowded, and traffic is bad. But it is still a nice town, and a good place to raise a Read More

Quality of Life - 4/2/2008
I've lived in Port Orange over ten years. It's a growing city with good restaurants, parks, lots of trees, 15 minutes or less to the beach over the bridge, not far from I-95 + 7 miles from Daytona Int'l Speedway, the large mall, & Airport. Crime is everywhere & also gangs but being a smaller city our police are on top of most of what happens. Housing anywhere isn't cheap anymore. Taxes & insurance are out of sight in FL however..retirees do get a break with property taxes if income is lower. Everyone has $25,000 Homestead exemption also in our State if you live in your home. Port Orange is the best area I think in the Daytona Beach area to live. Smaller, cleaner, good people all around. NO slums. Main hospital is in Daytona about 5-6 miles north of here. Urgent Care is in Port Read More

Sweet - 9/1/2007
I have been all over the U.S. and lived in allot of the Major Cities.
If your looking to stay close to all the action & not have to live
in it. Then Port Orange is the place. Good Schools for the Kids, great
fishing for Dad, and let's don't forget that afternoon getaway for Mom
at the Beach & tons of good deals on shopping. Don't let Bike Week scare
you off, I've walked into 7elevens that had more trash & gang bangers then
Bike Week. So in other words It's pretty laided back. Now Spring Break get's
pretty wild, but what do you expect out of thousand's of teenagers. The
Police & Beach patrol do a good job of keeping it in line.
Now (BCR) Black Collage Reunion. Is a different story. Let's just say, I
have some Black friends who stay at home, during that event.
The race track is always hopping & is a cool event to see.
And as always the best thing about Florida. Know more Snow!!!!
I was getting a Tan on Read More
