Wellington,Fl to reinstate fluoridation!!! - 3/28/2017
Unfortunately, our recently elected Mayor Anne Gerwig along with the city council unexpectedly and rather quickly voted unanimously to reinstate the highly contentious topic of 'fluoridation' of the city water!! There is absolutely no shortage of fluoride in our community. Unfortunately, we will all be subject to this mass water fluoridation that is not monitored in the population. Fluoride is a known 'neurotoxin' and is linked to lowered IQ, cancer, diabetes, thyroid issues, arthritis, cancer, osteoporosis and more!!, -please be aware of this before you consider moving here. We can all purchase fluoride filters, but it speaks volumes about an entire city council that chooses to go against many members of the community. Read More

Not all as it looks - 2/21/2011
We were NY transplants that moved to Wellington, FL after having lived in Southern Palm Beach County (Boca Raton and Delray Beach) for several years. Having 3 young children with medical issues we looked hard at schools, hospitals, and doctors in the area.
At first we thought that we had moved to a place like my cousins lived in CT. The holiday parade that closed the main road in town, that residents would line the swales with blankets and chairs to watch. The yearly fireworks that folks would spend hours waiting for the start, just to get the best views! Mayberry it is not, people are phony and think they are better than anyone else there, they are not by nature kind to your neighbor for the most part. Wellington once it shows it's true self is more like Westchester County in NY. Full of people with to much money and those who pretend that they have money and don't.
After a few years and renting a few houses, we purchased our dream home in the Pinewood area off the Read More

Expensive West Palm Beach suburb - 7/4/2010
We moved west to Wellington from West Palm, hoping to leave the ghetto behind. Unfortunately it seems to be trickling in, and the questionable areas of Wellington continue to grow. There are people here who have way too much money, and then right around the corner from them is Section 8 housing. It was really nice when we first moved here about 5 years ago, and has progressively gone downhill, as the minority groups move in. Many crimes go unreported, so looking at the low crime statistics/rate may give you a false sense of security. It is really a shame, because there was a time that we thought we had moved to Mayberry. Just be aware, research the neighborhood thoroughly before you move, and lock up at all times. The "up" side? The village rec. programs are phenomenal, and there is a large christian Read More

Writing about "LOXAHATCHEE" not Wellington, within - 11/15/2009
Hope people who r trying 2 find out about Loxahatchee will read this, I put it under Wellington because it was the closest city listed, leaving loxahatchee out of your listing makes it difficult! Loxahatchee is a great place to raise a family or retire. Schools are great, most A rated. It is basically quite besides the neighbor who may crank their music up on Weekends. Everyone out here basically does their own thing with most lots from 1.25 to 10 acres there is alot of privacy. People r polite and will usually help u if they can. A small % choose to keep 2 themselves & not be bothered. I feel safe here, living in the country u do have 2 b aware of your surroundings & lock up at night 2 b on the safe side. Cost of living isn't too high, the same for Palm Beach County. I have lived here over 20 years & it is a community u get comfortable in. We have alot of churches & store within 5 miles, our 1st gas station is going up within 10 miles in another shopping center (Publix)w/bank, Read More

Safe but insincere - 7/27/2009
I lived in Wellington, FL as a child about 15 years ago, and it seemed like a nice, natural place at the time, with lots of trees and vacant lots. I have recently moved back, and found that it has become almost unrecognizable. The developers seem to have gone crazy (note the 43% growth rate since 2000), often building houses and commercial buildings on speculation, which then sit empty on what were one nice, natural wooded areas; particularly the commercial buildings. There used to be a 10,000-acre tree nursery with an adjacent strawberry farm, for example, and now it has been replaced by a trendy shopping mall with literally half-empty parking lots every time I drive by it. Almost everyone is from New York or New Jersey now, which makes it feel like Wellington itself has no identity other than being a colony for those states. There seems to be little cultural diversity, even though people of various ethnicities live here: everyone dresses in the popular Western styles, the Read More

Good Value for the Money - 6/24/2008
Wellington is considered a higher end community in Florida, but with the housing collapse in Florida, it has become good value. Good sized homes in nice communities with A rated schools. There are plenty of events in the town such as free summer concerts, great parks and a terrific community center.

The town is mostly young families, so if you have kids, it's probably the place you want to be in South Read More

Great Place to Live--Great Place to Raise Kids - 5/30/2006
We moved to Wellington FL in 2003 from the midwest and love it. The weather is great. We love the melting pot of cultures all blended together. Everything is basically brand new and changing on a daily basis. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I would not want to live anywhere Read More
