What BestPlaces Users Say about West Palm Beach

West Palm Beach, Florida is a popular place for both tourists and residents alike. It boasts beautiful beaches, year-round warm weather, and a vibrant downtown area. However, like any city, it also has its drawbacks. To get a better understanding of what it's like to live in West Palm Beach, I have included some excerpts from user reviews on BestPlaces.net.

According to user "Jasmine," West Palm Beach is a "great place to live" with "plenty of things to do." She mentions the city's "beautiful parks and beaches" as well as its "diverse food scene." However, she also notes that the cost of living is high and traffic can be a major issue.

Another user, "Mark," has mixed feelings about West Palm Beach. He mentions the "gorgeous weather and scenery," but also points out the "massive amount of traffic" and "lack of job opportunities" as major downsides. He adds that the city is "not very pedestrian-friendly" and that "crime can be a problem in certain areas."

On the other hand, user "Kelly" highly recommends West Palm Beach. She describes it as a "tropical paradise" with a "laid-back vibe." She also mentions the "friendly and welcoming community" and the "numerous outdoor activities" available. However, she does mention that housing prices can be steep and that the city can feel "overcrowded" during peak tourist season.

One user, "Mike," has a more negative view of West Palm Beach. He mentions the "constant construction" and "lack of affordable housing" as major complaints. He also notes that the city can feel "too touristy" and that the "nightlife scene is lacking."

In conclusion, while West Palm Beach offers many attractive features, it also has its share of drawbacks. High cost of living, traffic, and crime seem to be common concerns among reviewers. However, others appreciate the city's warm climate and diverse culture. Ultimately, whether or not West Palm Beach is the right place to live will depend on individual preferences and priorities.

Palm Beach county living - 4/14/2017
Palm Beach county is getting over crowded at least from point of view. High property taxes and home owners insurance (due to hurricanes) traffic is getting worse. Builders are building more and more houses so the traffic is going to get even Read More

I love it here! - 8/24/2016
I couldn't think of a better place to live. There are so many things to do around town. Traffic in not bad, for the most part. There's a good mix of cultural diversity. There are many exciting changes to the city (especially downtown area). I've lived here for many years and IMO, this city is on the rise.  Read More

Not a lot to say - 4/12/2015
I live out in the Western Communities. Most out here live on 1+ acre lots. I moved in this neighborhood back in 1997 and have no plans to go anywhere, anytime soon. I have the best neighbors in the world. No traffic jams and low crime. I think the low crime may be attributed to the fact that most homes keep firearms and most criminals don't wish to find out if there is a gun in the house or not. My only complaint is, it gets awfully hot out here in the summers but, I can accept that as a Read More

IS IT A BAD IDEA TO MOVE MY ONLINE BUSINESS FROM L - 5/16/2014
I have an online business that I can practically move anywhere in the US. I would like to move to west palm beach but I have a husband and a 3 year old. I found that wellington and lake worth have good school districts. I am currently living in a very upper class neighborhood in long island, new york (garden city). Is west palm beach, wellington and lake worth a bad place to raise children? Are these upper class neighborhoods? Is my son going to grow up as a southener which is A LOT different than a new yorker lol. Also, I am white and my husband is Guyanese. Do you think we will be discriminated a lot and hated on because we are a mixed couple and from new york? Thanks! Read More

What would be the areas and neighborhoods NOT to move into in West Palm Beach? It looks like a beautiful city and my family and I are looking forward to moving there. Winsdor Park ? Garden Hills Circle area near Summit Pines Blvd?? our realtor showed us a few homes in this area???? To the people that actually live and know West Palm Beach your view and opinion is very important. We had a choice between Oviedo Florida and West Palm Beach but Oviedo seems like such a really small town so we choose West Palm. Read More

I Love West Palm Beach - 7/29/2012
I have lived in the West Palm Beach area for almost 20-years and I love it here. I love the climate, nature, lifestyle--which is why most people want to be here! I get so tired of people saying "It's too hot...It's too humid"......Well, WHAT DID YOU THINK FLORIDA WAS GOING TO BE? COLD?? Florida, in case you did not know has a sub-tropical climate. It's TROPICAL. This area is not as bad as some people say. Perhaps they live in the bad areas, and EVERY city has it's good and bad areas. The job market is not great here and South Florida was really hit hard by the recession. There is a lack of high-tech jobs here. If you work in medical, you will live a good life here. West Palm Beach is a small city and experiences the same problems as other small cities around the country.  Read More

I Love West Palm Beach - 7/29/2012
I live in a suburb of West Palm Beach, Florida which is located in Palm Beach County. I disagree with a lot of things that the "native" Floridian said about West Palm Beach. I have lived in the Palm Beach area for almost 20-years. First off, things change over time. Yes, some things have gone downhill about this area, while other aspects of the City and County have changed for the better. If people don't speak English in your local Wal-Mart, then maybe you are living in the wrong neighborhood. The job market is really poor here at best, especially for someone who is college educated. Minimum-wage jobs are plentiful, but they don't pay the bills, nor does it allow you to live in a desirable neighborhood. We need more high-tech jobs here, not just medical jobs. The Schools are not the best, but I'm sure there are worse places in the United States than Palm Beach County. I love Palm Beach County for the weather, nature and the lifestyle and that is why most people move here or Read More
