Chicago, not my kind of town.. - 5/1/2006
Being from San Francisco and having lived in the South and Northeast as well, I can say that the Chicago area is by far the most inhospitable. After two years I still hate it. I agree 100% that the people are the rudest ever. You're taking our life into your hands if you cross a street or even a parking lot, even with small children. After living on the West coast for several years, the rude people here are intolerable ! Every day, someone is pushing to get on the train/bus ahead of everyone who was waiting longer. No one stops when pedestrians have the right of way, even in a crosswalk. One psycho actually blared her horn when I was walking in a crosswalk w/ a walk signal, and she was trying to turn on a red light!
