Being from San Francisco and having lived in the South and Northeast as well, I can say that the Chicago area is by far the most inhospitable. After two years I still hate it. I agree 100% that the people are the rudest ever. You're taking our life into your hands if you cross a street or even a parking lot, even with small children. I live in a suburb where most everyone has grown up here and are not open to meeting new people. The city is lovely, but the people are not. Bitter after so much crappy weather, I suppose.
