Nothing to write home about - 2/28/2022
It's an okay city. Nothing special really. All the fun things to do and good restaurants are across the river in Omaha. I will say CB has some pretty good recreational trails. Seems like they're always getting better. There are also good hiking trails in and near the city in the Loess Hills. If you have a choice, though, you're probably better off just living across the river over in Omaha. Read More

Hidden Gem - 1/16/2016
Quietly over the years this community has taken untold amounts of riverfront casino tax dollars and converted them into hundreds and hundreds of community improvement projects. No traffic, good health care, a stunningly beautiful downtown district, restored storefronts, a new YMCA under way, great services for seniors, a senior community center, a new central library of a size and quality rarely found in a town of this size, major historic districts filled will homes from the turn of the century through the 20's and 30's. Mixed forest lands mingling through the homes in the bluff areas. All of the big box stores zoned into a single area along the interstate, a complete reconstruction of all of the freeways around the city, endless community enrichment programs for kids, adults and seniors. The only negative is the climate, but that is why you get on a plane once in a while, particularly easy as you're just about 10 minutes away from the Omaha airport. Reasonable housing costs too. Read More

Negative people have negative visions. - 5/20/2007
It's been a few years since I lived in CB, but we visit there several times a year. I was surprised to learn that the grain elevators and casinos were moved to the middle of town or maybe the middle of town is now Lake Manawa or at least the shores of the Missouri River. Both bodies of water are an asset to the whole area and are frequented by people from Omaha. The surrounding hill country is beautiful with many hills, valleys, and great views which is why so many Nebraska fans have moved east across the river. The commute to downtown Omaha is much easier when approached from the Iowa side. Nebraska taxes are so much greater that more people in Iowa can afford those $250.000 houses with the big lawns and friendly, clean neighbors. Golf memberships are available with many opportunities for others to play also. CB is a great place! The weather is also better than in many parts of the US.

There are railroads running through many parts of the city, but they played both a Read More
