I need feedbacks.... - 7/2/2009
After reading many of the opinions,I have to say that i am a bit concern. To begin with; I have never gone to MN, but have read plenty of it. I am a single mother of a five year old boy, with an ESL teaching degree and was thinking of MN as my future home (Puertorican, born in Buffalo but currently in P.R.). I realize it is a big step but i have wanted to move back to the states for the longest, and really looking foward to MN. After reading about the coldness, and rejection towards outsiders really worries me. It is a shame that people still have this sense of rejecting others because of the race or origins, its 2009 and our world is a ""multicultural complex mixture"" (like i call it) of many people put together, which is the most rewarding gift we can have as ""people"". Anything, anybody can tell me will be very welcome....Thank

I'm originally from the NY area, but have lived in Minneapolis for nearly 10 years now. The quality of life is excellent if you can tolerate a little extra winter. Restaurants, museums, music scene, theater and plenty of outdoor activity from hiking, running, biking, kayaking, wind-surfing, rollerblading exist in greater abundance than one might imagine. Additionally, it's an affordable city and if you live Downtown or Uptown, walkable. During the winter people stay active, too, with cross-country skiing, hockey, broomball, snowshoeing and even some downhill skiing. Additionally the job market is excellent with companies such as General Mills, Target, Best Buy, Ecolab, Medtronic, 3M, Carlson Companies, and countless others, many in the healthcare industry. Plus we have one of the best airports in the

I love the snow in Minnesota. Sometimes it can be hard and bitterly cold, but there's nothing like a fresh blanket of snow. Sledding is completely awesome. Snowball fights are wicked fun. And nothing makes you appreciate the spring and summer like a good, long

Not kidding about LONG, hard winters; great parks - 6/14/2009
It gets so cold and lasts so long!! Be prepared for major indoor time from Octoberish until Aprilish. Not kidding. And if you have kids... You aren't supposed to even take them outside if it's below zero (with windchill), which happens more often than I like to think about.
Weather aside; nice city. Great parks. They say there is a park within walking distance of every residential home in Minneapolis. I believe it. Smart city planning about street names and layout and addresses and such. Lots of

A Little Insular for a former Chicagoan - 3/8/2009
Minneapolis has many great virtues, it's very clean, the population is well-educated, people have a good work life balance, there are many good places to earn a living considering the population size, it's attitude towards cold is simply amazing, but it's a tough town to just break into and find your groove. It's very much like Portland or Seattle, the big difference is that Minneapolis is not as much of a destination city. People have their great friendships from High School, who can blame them?
Also the restaurants if you care for such things, disappoint more often than surprise. Don't get me wrong there are a few fantastic places, but nothing that's truly world class. That's the thing that needs to be hear more often, world class. It has a surprising amount for the size, but maybe it have a little more.
Ending on a positive note, the nature is fantastic, people are very healthy. My wife and I walk all the time. Very manageable city, no big city traffic,

Minneapolis Social Cultural - 11/29/2008
I have been back in Minneapolis for 2 years after 10 years in Kansas City. Of I did not like Kansas City at first because of readjustment issues but from the very start I thought the citizens were A LOT more friendlier then in Minneapolis. It is very true that Minnesotan even if orginally born here or transplants, from other neightboring cities like Chicago or Madison or other countries and continents are very a loft bunch of people. Minneapolis/St. Paul people are reasonablily culturally diverse for a mid-western state, maybe the reason it is still democrate most of the time.
I must be conscience on a daily bases that these Minnesotans are very Minnesota nice, but at the same time can be back stabbing rude this has always been the personality of the average Minnesotan. WHat is different since grow up here is the amount of people who flash their wealth the best they can. This is not common behavior ten years when growing up here. Minnesotan are tradionally modest and would be
