What BestPlaces Users Say about Minneapolis

According to the Best Places website, Minneapolis, Minnesota is a popular city known for its vibrant arts and music scene, beautiful parks and lakes, and thriving economy. It is home to over 400,000 residents and has been ranked as one of the best cities to live in the United States. However, every place has its pros and cons, and user reviews provide valuable insights into the reality of living in a particular location. Let's take a look at what some people have to say about living in Minneapolis.

1. Mark G. shared his experience of living in Minneapolis for over 30 years and said, "Minneapolis is a wonderful city with great people and a strong sense of community. The diversity of cultures and ideas make it a truly unique place to live." He also mentioned the city's excellent public schools and rich history as factors that have kept him in Minneapolis for so long.

2. On the other hand, Sarah W. expressed her disappointment with the high cost of living in Minneapolis. She stated, "I moved to Minneapolis for a job opportunity, but the cost of living here is way too high for me. Rent, groceries, and utilities are all expensive, and it's hard to make ends meet on a single income."

3. Another user, Ryan P., shared his thoughts on the weather in Minneapolis and said, "I've lived in Minneapolis for five years now, and I can confidently say that the winters here are brutal. The cold, snowstorms, and icy roads can make daily life challenging, but the summers are beautiful and make up for it."

4. Lastly, Jenna L. commented on the city's overall vibe and said, "I love Minneapolis for its laid-back and friendly atmosphere. There's always something to do here, whether it's attending a concert or trying out a new restaurant. It's a great city for young professionals, families, and retirees alike."

In summary, user reviews about living in Minneapolis vary, but they all highlight the city's diverse community, high cost of living, challenging winters, and vibrant culture as significant aspects of the city. Ultimately, each person's experience may differ, but these reviews provide valuable insights for those considering making Minneapolis their home.

Wonderful family vacation!! - 1/27/2010
My family and I visited the Twin Cities area from May 28 - June 5, 2009. We currently live in Alaska (since 2003) but we are originally from the East Coast (my wife is from Baltimore and I'm from Philly). We had never been to MSP before and quite frankly we didn't know what to expect. We were pleasantly surprise at the friendliness and openness of the people. Being an interracial couple with biracial children, we will occasionally encounter racial animosity (from both blacks and whites). However, with one exception, everywhere we went in the Twin Cities area, we were made to feel welcome and appreciated for our patronage.

In fact, we had such a positive experience that we planning to return sometime this summer (probably late June or early July) for another visit. If this trip is as enjoyable as the first trip, we are seriously considering relocating to the Twin Cities area.

Good area for orchestral and choral music - 1/20/2010
The "Twin Cities" area (Minneapolis, Saint Paul, and suburbs) has many great choral organizations, such as VocalEssence, the Minnesota Chorale, Cantus, and the Rose Ensemble. Minneapolis has an excellent professional orchestra in the Minnesota Orchestra, while the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra is the nation's only full time professional chamber orchestra. There are also many very good community choruses and orchestras.

And yes, it gets pretty darn cold in the Read More

The Twin Cites — What You Should Know - 1/10/2010
If you are considering visiting or moving to the Twin Cities, there are a few things you should know.

The Good:

1) Job Opportunity. The Minneapolis / St. Paul area is home to many Fortune 500 and Fortune 1000 corporations, such as 3M, General Mills, Thomson West, Pillsbury, Land O' Lakes, Andersen Corporation, Nash Finch, Alliant Techsystems, Regis Corporation, Supervalue, C.H. Robinson, Medtronic, Pentair, CHS Inc., Polaris Industries, Cargill, UnitedHealth Group, Carlson Companies, Michael Foods, Imation, Best Buy, and Deluxe Corporation. The unemployment here is low compared to the rest of the country and wages are generally at, or above the national average.

2) Safety and Cleanliness. There are a couple of areas of the metro area that have been problematic as far as crime is concerned: North Minneapolis and what is referred to as the "Frogtown" area of St. Paul. Other than that, the Twin Cities area are pretty low crime. Although there are Read More

Minneapolis is honestly the greatest city on earth. It has every cultural, athletic and outdoor activity possible. It's clean, compact and has interesting fun people.
