Every time I think about moving, after research I - 12/8/2015
I've lived here 10 years and was recently thinking about adding to my small rental portfolio...then I saw an episode of Island Life and Hawaii Life and remembered how much I miss all the greenery of those places and places like Key West and Costa Rica. More research on places I can actually AFFORD to move to (e.g. Panama City, FL) and I find that our weather is just as nice--more sunny days and reasonable highs and lows, population density is much lower (which I like), and the cost of living is better. Plus we have the hot springs year-round, the largest lake in the state, the Rio Grande to float down in the summer, and a few good restaurants to enjoy. I know I don't want to worry about getting a lot of snow, and I really appreciate sunshine. So much safer than Albuquerque! - 10/22/2013
Occasional crime sprees (series of break-ins, robberies) interspersed with fairly long periods of quiet. I feel MUCH safe than I would living in Albuquerque and will go out walking at night. VERY quiet after dark around here. The drunken sprees at the what might as well be the only dance hall/pool/bar seem to have slacked off the last couple of years. And not a gang presence that I've heard of, and I think I would have through social media. You do need to watch your speed through the downtown Read More

SANDTRAP - 4/6/2013
numbers can be deceiving-the stats don't look bad here for a lot of categories....but I lived in T or c for 7 yrs...maybe the air is clean in regard to normal industrial pollutants and ozone, but the wind blows almost 8 months steady during the year-and it's blowing silt except during fire season, and then you can get "chipolte" silt. there is a very big meth problem, several heinous murders during the time i was there. The sidewalks roll up way before 8 p.m. (many places closing at 5). the jobs that are there pay such a low wage that many people (like me) end up stuck there long after they want to move away. The water is drying up and so Elephant Butte Lake is very low which has hurt the area on all levels....It's a strange town with a strange history; you should know that Geronimo cursed it...and whether you are superstitious or not, there is definitely something off in this Read More
