What BestPlaces Users Say about Charlotte

Background Information:
Charlotte, North Carolina is a bustling city known for its booming economy and southern charm. With a growing population of over 870,000 people, it has become a popular place to live for many individuals and families. However, like any city, it has its pros and cons. Here's what some users have to say about living in Charlotte.

Overall, the majority of user reviews on BestPlaces.net speak highly of living in Charlotte. Many reviewers mention the city's friendly atmosphere and numerous job opportunities. SarahD stated, "Charlotte is a great city to live in. The people are friendly and the job market is thriving." Similarly, JohnK shared, "I moved to Charlotte for work and I have not regretted it. The people here are so welcoming and the job market is diverse."

In terms of cost of living, some users have mixed opinions. While some, like NancyB, appreciate the affordable housing and low taxes, others have found the price of living to be high. As reviewer TimS put it, "Charlotte has a lot going for it, but the cost of living can be a bit steep. It's important to budget wisely and find a good paying job if you want to make it work here."

One aspect that received a lot of attention in the reviews is the weather in Charlotte. Some commenters, like MaryL, love the mild winters and hot summers, saying "I don't mind the heat as long as I have air conditioning." However, others have a different opinion, such as JakeM who wrote, "The summers here are brutal and the winters can be unpredictable. It's something to keep in mind before moving here."

Overall, it seems that most people enjoy living in Charlotte. While there are some concerns about the cost of living and the weather, the overall consensus is that it is a friendly and thriving city with plenty of opportunities. As reviewer StephanieG sums it up, "I've lived in Charlotte for 10 years now and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else. It's a great place to call home."

Good old Charlotte - 6/27/2006
I relocated to the area after Katrina.I decided to move here becauuse prior to the storn I read about Charlotte and thought because it was growing it would be a great place to live and raise kids. I think teh schools here are awful and the crime well it's everywhere .I'm no longer a fan of the QC and I don't think it's all that web sites make it out to be . They pain pic of a great city and well Charlotte is ok . I guess it has to grow on you Read More

Been There, Done That - 6/22/2006
I moved to the Charlotte Area in 82, living in Concord for 8 years and in Charlotte for 8 years. Most of the comments I have read on the School System and Crime rate are true. They are not good. However, if you are a young adult, there are plenty of places to develop a career. C.P.C.C. is a great place to learn and the price is right. There are plenty of night clubs in the area, catering to any musical tastes. The surrounding area, maily north, are also growing and losing their Southern charm. I left the area mainly because of the uncontrolled growth, the upswing in the Crime rate, increasing tax rate, and that lost Southern Charm. I left Charlotte for a small city with a lot of Southern Charm and close to the Read More

Relocating to Charlotte from Maryland - 6/21/2006
I am a 32-year old African American single mom who is seriously considering relocating to the Charlotte, NC area by the end of the summer and was wondering if anyone can give me some ideas of some nice, affordable places to live-either in Charlotte or not far from Charlotte. I plan on renting for at least the first year and then I will most likely look into purchasing a home. I just came back from a friend's wedding in Charlotte and absolutely loved the city. Originally, I contemplated relocating to the Atlanta area, but that was quickly put on the "back burner" once I visited Charlotte. Any information regarding housing (apartments), employment, cost of living, racial diversity, etc. would be most helpful and Read More

Single mum looking to relocate to Charlotte - 6/9/2006
Originally from England and lived in Tucson, AZ, San Antonio, TX. Currently living in Orlando, FL for the last 3 years completing a Bachelors degree I have decided I have had enough and I am considering moving to Charlotte, NC. My children are mixed so I am curious to the reception we will recieve. The cost of living in Orlando is outragious and I figured Charlotte will allow us a better quality of life. Dating sucks in Orlando, and I am still single after 3 years. I blame the tourism for that, men don't have to work too hard to win a date for the night.
I haven't begun job searching yet, but hoping to find a job in the Public Relations field with a medical background and 4 years in the USAF. Any feedback on Charlotte, the schools, nightlife, best neighbourhoods etc will be much Read More

I am a 32-year-old African American female with no children. Four-year degree in human resources. Currently, I reside in Philadelphia (the worst city). Looking for a city life, but more southern hospitality, a slower pace, and more opportunities. I hear Charlotte is wonderful. Please give me your thoughts. I am still moving there, but want to hear more thoughts. Are African Americans doing well there? There not in Philly. It's horrible. It's very racial here. People are abrupt and rude, and cut-throat mentality. I cannot wait to move to Read More

Pretty big city with a hometown feel - 5/22/2006
People are very nice, the news crews do a good job, jobs are plentiful, traffic is not too bad, cost of living is quite reasonable, and nightlife is hopping. However, Crimes are on the rise (basically murders, robbings, and arson) and gangs are getting out of hand. The public school system is absolutely horrible though - Charlotte is a decent place to live and raise kids, but prepare to hire tutors or send them to private Read More
