What BestPlaces Users Say about Greensboro
Greensboro, North Carolina is a popular city known for its southern charm, vibrant culture, and array of outdoor activities. With a population of over 290,000, it offers a diverse community and a variety of neighborhoods to live in. However, like any city, it has its pros and cons. Many people have shared their experiences of living in Greensboro on the website BestPlaces.net, providing valuable insights into the city's lifestyle and atmosphere.
According to user reviews on BestPlaces.net, Greensboro is a great place to call home due to its affordability, friendly people, and array of job opportunities. One reviewer, Sarah, writes, "I have lived in Greensboro for 10 years now and have loved every minute of it. It's a great city for young professionals with plenty of job opportunities and affordable housing options." Another user, John, echoes this sentiment, saying, "The people in Greensboro are so welcoming and kind. It's refreshing to live in a city where everyone is so friendly."
However, some reviewers mention that the city can feel a bit slow-paced and lacks certain amenities. As Robert puts it, "Greensboro is a nice place to live, but it can feel a little slow at times. There's not as much to do here compared to bigger cities, and the traffic can be frustrating." Another reviewer, Jessica, adds, "I love living in Greensboro, but I do wish there were more options for entertainment and dining. It can get a bit stale after a while."
Despite these minor drawbacks, many reviewers appreciate the city's overall atmosphere and sense of community. Mary shares, "I've lived in Greensboro my entire life, and I have no plans of leaving. It's a city where you can truly feel at home and be a part of a community. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else." Overall, it seems that Greensboro is a welcoming and affordable place to live, with its own unique charm and character.

It is what you make of it - 6/13/2010
Greensboro is what you make of it, I've lived here for most of my life. It's not the most exciting to place to live but there are things to do here. The downtown area is nice and clean and trust me compared to the surrounding cities in NC, is pretty vibrant. The job climate here isn't great at all but I'm sure it'll improve, though I plan on living this city very soon. If you're raising a family then Greensboro is a great city to live in, for a person in their 20s or out of college, it's not the best city to live in. It is a diverse area, the people are friendly but there seems to be a resistance to Greensboro expanding and becoming the major city it truly can become.
The thing is this isn't a major city, people who move here from larger cities will of course think Greensboro sucks. If they're coming from a smaller city then Greensboro is exciting. Like I said before Downtown is a nice, clean area with music and arts, there are quite a few clubs here to go to and

Escape from G'boro - 10/27/2009
Up until recently, I lived in Greensboro for several years, and could not be happier since moving. I would have left sooner had my company not kept me there. This is no place to live if you want to do anything other than go to work and go home. There is literally nothing to do here outside of a few places to hang out in the downtown (which gets old quickly).
This town is sprawling, which is a big part of the problem with Greensboro IMO. You have to drive EVERYWHERE, it often seems like a maze of endless strip malls and chain restaurants. I will say I think downtown Greensboro has potential in terms of revitalizing the city's image and economy, but it seems an apathetic notion as the population and economic interests are dispersed over such a huge geographic area.
On the other hand, this just might be a good place for a young couple starting a family. It is cheap to live here, and there is no shortage of very affordable housing. So, if you're on a

asthma/allergies - 7/7/2009
i've had asthma and allergies almost all my life as do my 2 children. My mother has it as well but it didn't affect her until years after moving to greensboro. i've read that greensboro, nc is not a good place to live for allergy/asthma sufferers. i believe it. Apart from that, i love Greensboro - it's a great place to raise kids and the downtown is really

this is by far the worst place I've lived. - 4/5/2009
This has been one of the worst mistakes I've made, if you disregard my personal life. I hate Greensboro, and for that matter am unimpressed and uninspired by North Carolina, in general. Every day I ask myself "what am I doing here?"
7 months, and I haven't come up with any other answer, other than "my nephews and nieces are fun"
North Carolina is cheaper for a reason.

friendly - 3/29/2009
I have lived in Greensboro for a little over three years now. It's surprisingly diverse with a range of ethnic food markets and ethnicity in general. The city is a fairly green one. It houses one of the most environmentally friendly hotels in the US (the Proximity). The people are friendly and down to earth. This is a great place to send your kid off to college or raise a family. The only downside to this is that there isn't as much nightlife as there would be in larger cities. Most stores are closed my 10:00 PM and the bars are closed at 2:00AM. The downtown area is small, but fun. It is a very arts friendly place as

Not a bad town - 12/13/2008
Like most cities, it depends on where you live in Greensboro in terms of housing, crime, and so forth. Generally, the price of housing is reasonable when compared to other similar sized cities. As to the climate, the best time is the Fall and Spring. Summers can be humid and hot to the point of being brutal. Winters usually have regular welcome breaks from the cold. This year November and early December have been much colder than normal with long periods of incessant cold drizzling rain like it used to be when I was a kid here in the 60's. I hope it doesn't continue or I will be looking for a new place to live.
I am retired now and really can’t honestly address in detail the employment situation. However, as NC has essentially lost most of the furniture industry, the tobacco program and the textile industry, this state is still undergoing a transition period in its economy.
Greensboro is large enough to have most anything you want in terms of
