What BestPlaces Users Say about Greensboro

Greensboro, North Carolina is a popular city known for its southern charm, vibrant culture, and array of outdoor activities. With a population of over 290,000, it offers a diverse community and a variety of neighborhoods to live in. However, like any city, it has its pros and cons. Many people have shared their experiences of living in Greensboro on the website BestPlaces.net, providing valuable insights into the city's lifestyle and atmosphere.

According to user reviews on BestPlaces.net, Greensboro is a great place to call home due to its affordability, friendly people, and array of job opportunities. One reviewer, Sarah, writes, "I have lived in Greensboro for 10 years now and have loved every minute of it. It's a great city for young professionals with plenty of job opportunities and affordable housing options." Another user, John, echoes this sentiment, saying, "The people in Greensboro are so welcoming and kind. It's refreshing to live in a city where everyone is so friendly."

However, some reviewers mention that the city can feel a bit slow-paced and lacks certain amenities. As Robert puts it, "Greensboro is a nice place to live, but it can feel a little slow at times. There's not as much to do here compared to bigger cities, and the traffic can be frustrating." Another reviewer, Jessica, adds, "I love living in Greensboro, but I do wish there were more options for entertainment and dining. It can get a bit stale after a while."

Despite these minor drawbacks, many reviewers appreciate the city's overall atmosphere and sense of community. Mary shares, "I've lived in Greensboro my entire life, and I have no plans of leaving. It's a city where you can truly feel at home and be a part of a community. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else." Overall, it seems that Greensboro is a welcoming and affordable place to live, with its own unique charm and character.

City trying to decide if ity wants to be a small t - 8/12/2008
Greensboro seems to be undecided if it wants to stay a small town or grow to have something to offer. It is green and has some park/recreation areas. It is very diverse in culture as well. Driving on I85, you would pass right by it, there is nothing to let you know that you are in/near or passing Greensboro.... only 1 exit has any restaurants or stores to show that you are near (in effect you are @ 5 miles from downtown at that point) not even a gas station.
The east side and directly south of downtown leave a lot to be desired. The city is moostly north and east of I85, but also west and other areas due to NC forced anexing you into the city mainly for tax income. Schools are fair, nothing special , some have the usual temporary trailers for students. The need something to set them apart from Charlotte and Raleigh before Greensboro will have it's own draw, I do not hate it here but given the chance again I would have choosen Raleigh or Charlotte, this area is too small town. Why do you think they call it "GreensBORING?" - 7/18/2008
I lived there for a while and never realized just how so much nothing goes on in one place. If your idea of a good time is driving everywhere and seeing strip mall after strip mall, then this is ur place. I will admit that there are lots of natural parks and trees but for big city excitement you might be better off going somewhere else. It is almost as if time has stood still in this city. If you have a family and want to live in the middle of now where, then this is the place to be. Personally, I would prefer Raleigh, NC. At least it feels more city Read More

I have lived in 4 states and the water is the most expensive here by far, all other areas of the cost of living are reasonable but the water is 4x what we paid in FL and 10x what we paid in NY

only good for... - 7/2/2007
those people who are content with a so-so job (depending on your profession), ho-hum night life (as there isn't too much to do after 9pm), and love to eat (there is a PLETHORA of restaurants!). Greensboro is one of those "in-between" places. I've lived there for 9 1/2 years (my husband and I live in High Point now). although there are museums, arts, a coliseum (holding concerts of well-known artists, arts/crafts shows, carnivals, other special events), excellent and major universities, some nice parks, a few night clubs and good restaurants, Greensboro still has a lot of growing up to do. when I arrived back in 1995 with my parents, it was sooo small and under-developed, but the boom was just starting to hit. yes it is true, the most excitement that happens on a nightly basis is the people hitting the restaurants. no, i'm not kidding. it's no wonder that many of these city dwellers are overweight!

don't get me wrong, there are parks with and without lakes and Read More
