Cincinnati, Ohio is a major city located in the southwestern region of the state. Known for its rich history, diverse culture, and booming economy, the city offers a variety of attractions and opportunities for its residents. However, like any city, there are both positive and negative aspects of living in Cincinnati. In order to get a well-rounded understanding of what it's like to live in this particular place, it is important to look at user reviews from a variety of perspectives.

User Reviews:

1) From user "JohnDoe", "I have lived in Cincinnati for over 10 years and I absolutely love it here. The people are friendly, the food scene is amazing, and there are always new events and festivals to attend. The cost of living is affordable and there are plenty of job opportunities. I can't imagine living anywhere else."

2) On the other hand, user "JaneSmith" shares a different experience, stating, "I moved to Cincinnati for work and have been disappointed with the lack of diversity and the high crime rates in certain areas. The cost of living is also higher than I expected. I'm looking to relocate soon."

3) Another user, "CincyNative", gives a local perspective, saying, "I was born and raised in Cincinnati and I have seen the city go through some major changes. While there are still some rough areas, overall the city is thriving and there is always something new to discover. The sports teams and riverfront area are definitely highlights."

4) Finally, user "TravelBug" shares a unique perspective, having recently moved to Cincinnati. They state, "I relocated to Cincinnati from a much larger city and I have been pleasantly surprised. The cost of living is significantly lower and there is still plenty to do. I've also noticed a strong sense of community here which has made the transition easier."

In summary, user reviews about living in Cincinnati vary, with some praising the city for its friendly people, affordable cost of living, and diverse culture, while others express concerns about crime rates and lack of diversity. However, most reviewers agree that the city offers a variety of opportunities and attractions for its residents. From a local's perspective to that of a recent transplant, it seems that Cincinnati has something to offer for everyone.

Boring City and uneducated people who are close mi - 10/4/2006
I agree with most of the others this place is boring, closeminded and full of old ideas....people refuse to change and believe that change is not good. I have been here for 13 years and begging to leave.. I am trying to find employment in the West or South. I could careless how people feel about what I am saying is the truth. and as far as Interracial dating it's majority of uneducated black males who date trashy white women from the trailer Read More

I'm a cincy native, & a response to Joe "outsiders - 9/20/2006
I'm sorry that "out of town Joe" hasn't made any friends. I suppose i don't understand his point of view, but I've always been nice to people and I would never treat anyone (regardless of their origin) the way he describes he has been treated, in fact most of my friends are from out of town. Everything he (Joe) says is true though.

That being said, Cincy is very divided. The eastside doesn't like the west side & vice versa, the people in Norwood don't like the people in North College Hill etc. Cincinnati is depressing, polluted, Boring, has a high crime rate, very republican, Self magazine recently rated Cincinnati as one of the most "depressing places" to live and is one of the 'fatest cities' in the nation among other things. Downtown sucks, there is nothing to do and everything closes at 5pm. All they seem to be doing is wasting millions of tax payer money on moving the Tyler Davidson fountain around. I will give them credit for building Ft. Washington Way, it's the Read More

Cincinnati = Oz - 9/11/2006
I grew up in a town in SE Indiana about 40 mi. west of Cincy, and have always considered it my home city, even lived in the city (N. College Hill) for couple of years. There are a lot of statements here with a lot of validity, some not so much. Bottom line, Cincinnati is an oddball place. Dennis Leary's comedy bit once spoke of the 'good block, bad block' game of NYC. It's VERY much valid in the Nati as well, though the areas themselves are bigger. Over the Rhine is the scariest place I've ever been, and that's comparing it first hand in daylight and a public crowd to being alone in Harlem and Downtown Detroit @ 2 AM. The film "Traffic" only gave a glimpse of the seediness that is this very sad neighborhood. OTR has such incredible architecture and is a huge urban area in the gentle slope between the hills of Clifton and Downtown on the river. It truly is a shame because Cincinnati has such great potential to be a thriving urban city, instead of the gourmet donut it is; with Read More

No outsiders allowed! - 9/6/2006
I was offered over a 30% raise to move here a year ago by myself to an area where I knew no one. A year+ later I still know almost no one. From day 1 my coworkers (all natives) plopped work on my desk, didn't ask anything about me, invite me out to lunch, get to know me or nothing. A few other locals who cared to share said it would take years for me to be accepted. I hope I'm not here long enough to find out.

I could see it's a good place to raise a family-stay out of the city itself (high crime), stick to the burbs, and vote republican. Saddle up yer huge SUV and drive, drive, drive. All things I have no interest in. Culture lover? Open minded? Progressive? Single? Look elsewhere-you'll either die from boredom or go nuts. At least the bike trails are good. I'd love to take them with me when I leave. Read More

GREAT FAMILY TOWN - 8/27/2006
lITTLE CRIME, ARE BAD AREAS LIKE PRICE HILL & OVER THE RHINE. EAST SIDE IS RICHER, WEST SIDE FRIENDLIER. SOMEWHAT OF A RACIST TOWN, ESP. OUT TOWARDS INDIANA. IF YOUR BLACK DO NOT EVEN ATTEMPT TO MOVE ACROSS THE RIVER, YOU WILL SEE SHOTGUNS, ESP. IF YOU ARE A WHITE/BLACK COUPLE, CINCY DOES NOT APPROVE. A HUGE DRINKING TOWN.. 90% BUD LIGHT. COST OF LIVING IS CHEAPER THAN MOST Read More

Cincinnati: pros and cons from long time resident - 7/12/2006
I read some of the other comments and would like to offer my perspective as a long time Cincinnati resident. Realize that when people that live here refer to "Cincinnati" they generally don't mean just life within the city limits. The Greater Cincinnati area is really about 10 different counties in Southwest Ohio, Northern Kentucky, and Southeast Indiana. All of the population growth in the area is in the suburbs where there is (or was) plenty of open land to build on. Those areas are becoming more congested but they are generally nice places to live with affordable housing, clean and safe neighborhoods, and good schools. You can work downtown and get to work from the suburbs in 20 to 45 minutes depending on how far out you live. Yes, this is a family oriented city. There are a large number of popular parochial high schools and grade schools throughout the area due to our strong German and Irish heritage. Look at this as a positive since it gives you more options in picking Read More

I would rate :Average - 7/9/2006
It is a mid sized city which i would rate average. It definitely ranks better than most of the american cities. It is a nice place for religious people and famiy oriented persons.
Real estate: The city limits are expanding and the real estate is affordable ,also at the same time there are a lot of old houses.

Career: Well the there is not much software industry here.P&G,5/3,KROGER are major companies. For foreign residents it is not very easy as for the engineering aspect, but Cincinnati needs lot of doctors.

Health care : There are plenty of hospitals .

Education: There is UC with its DAAP,MEDICINE ,ENGINEERING rated well in the country.

People: It is very hard to draw a conclusion on the people. For sure it is not a easy way for foreigners. But i had seen a lot of interracial couples (a lot maybe highest for black-white couples). Now people are welcoming asian indians etc.. but women who date out of americans(white and black) is Read More

Racist and Simple-Minded!!! - 7/2/2006
Lived in Cincy for over 10 years. Married with a African-American wife. Couldn't pick a worse city to raise a family in. Wheather it was stares from older caucasian couples or loud obnoxious antics from African-American community. Was obvious we had to raise a family elsewhere!! It was bad before the riots, but after the joining of the races in Cincy is non-existant. Bottomline interracial couples are not welcome nor will you feel welcome in Cincinnati. People of Cincinnati need to get off there high horse. The city does not rate high in Quality of Life. LOUSY if your single. Most overweight city in Midwest for men and women. Glad I'm in Southern Cali. Took while to get out, but I'll never regret leaving!! Not fair for people not knowing to go to Cincy blind!! Take a 10 year residents Read More
