Seriously ! - 5/20/2011
This is the most depressed city I have ever been in. It is a ghetto town and is very sad. The mall has nothing to offer and many retailers have moved out. Their style is it least 15 years behind. The climate absolutley stinks. You are either freezing or burning up. There is virtually nothing to do other than eat at not so good restaurants. However there are 2 hospitals and that is a good thing because the crime is always on the rise. The people in Lima are friendly even if you have not lived here all your life which is a positive, The economy is very sad. The cost of living is low however. I live in a town outside of Lima (Saint Marys) where the lake is polluted and you can not even enjoy it, (only from a long distance.) Keep on trucking Read More

Keep right on going... - 9/26/2009
Want to know what the best thing is about Lima? Nothing! Most places have at least a few things that make them unique and appealing. Not Lima; as a matter of fact, I am hard pressed to think of one redeeming thing about this city(town????). Crapy eateries, violent crime, rampant drug use, high unemployment, low property values, no opportunities, along with God awful weather makes this perhaps one on the most miserable places to live in this entire nation.

If you're thinking of relocating here ( or in any nearby vicinity surrounding Lima, for that matter) consider this: all you have to do once you're here is eat. go to the movie, drink, and wish that you could move as far away as possible, or that you will wake up and realize that everything "Lima" was just a terrible dream.

I grew up around Dayton/ Lima area. We are seriously thinking of moving someplace warmer - south east. We have lived here because this is where our family if from. We live on a lake but only enjoy it a couple months out of the year. Right now is bitter cold/ Read More

Poor, poor, poor - 9/19/2007
I am a transplant to this northwestern Ohio town from Pittsburgh, PA. I am amazed how depressing and sad it is to live in this small town. I was from a suburb of a big city so access to recreation, wonderful food, ethnic diversity, education and all of the other benefits of living near a big city could provide. There is significant job loss here. Many manufacturers have sold off to Mexico. The food is awful. There is absolutely no high quality food or restaurants in this area. I am not exaggerating. I can't even find a good loaf of crusty bread. They are stagnating in this poor little city but no one who grew up here realizes it. I am taking the first opportunity I can to leave this area and head for some place that offers life, instead of soybeans and corn as your only topic of conversation. Not to mention the highest amount of alcoholism I have ever personally witnessed. It is no wonder everyone is depressed and have given up Read More

Unless you're in the medical field, think twice. - 6/7/2006
The only opportunity for jobs with livable wages around the Lima area seem to be in the healthcare related fields. There are plenty of sub $10/hr jobs within the retail or food service industries though. Other than that it's like winning the lottery to get hired into the few positions that open up with the local Ford or Proctor and Gamble facilities. Culture and recreation are nearly non existent and most suburbians will tell you they avoid going into downtown Lima at night if they're honest with Read More

Lima, Ohio - 9/23/2005
I have worked in Lima OH for 3 years. The people are nice but there is a higher rate of drugs in Lima as well as violence. This is not a great place to raise a family.
The ecnomical outlook for Lima, OHio and the Surrounding area are weak at best and the people are relocating to maintain their financial status.

Leaving Is My Ambition - 7/25/2005
The only reason to live or stay in Lima is if you have friends or family here. Otherwise it doesn't have much to offer. Also it is difficult to find a job in this area. There used to be many manufacturing jobs here but since many of the plants have closed in the past 5 or so years there aren't alot of job choices, especially white color jobs. The only abundant jobs here are in healthcare. There are two good sized hospitals here. A couple of good things here are the civic center and fair grounds which host a few events and small venue concerts. People around here do alot of ESPN watching to pass the time- that's a statistical Read More
