Oklahoma City is the new Dallas their has been huge devlopment here over the last 15 years. Their is alot of affordable housing here for a very affordable price. As for the weather most years we go without snow, the winters are mild and can get hot into the 80's and 90's. Over the years we have seen less storms, yes it is quite amusing when we get a huge rumble of thunder in May but then the summer comes in everyday is hot and dry with a warm brezze its about 100 but it sure feels great without the sticky air. Overall its a great city alot of potenital at the horizion and I highly recommend the city to move

The military sent me here in 1981, retired in 87' and started another career with the FAA. Will retire again and for good in 2008 and would really like to live somewhere else primarily to see some trees! It's just too barren here for my tastes. Hi, have been reading about the Grand Lakes area which brought me to the OK City/Tulsa area also. Didn't realize the cost of living was so cheap there. I work in Oklahoma City and live in a nearby suburb. This is one of the nicest large cities in the country. With a metro population of about 1.2 million the city is diverse and friendly. The Bricktown area is great for conventions and will be attracting lots of interest in coming years. There is a significant fine arts community and a growing performing arts presence. There are also many wonderful references to the unique cultural mix that formed the area. The city is very safe and enjoys excellent emergency services. The cost of living is unbelievably low. I recently built a 2400 square foot home on a corner lot in a very nice neighborhood for less than 250K. With energy and technology companies in strong growth trends the financial future of the city looks great.

Growing but slowly - 1/28/2006
Oklahoma city it not a bad place to live, there are plenty of good neighborhoods and schools to attend. The city has been on a development spurt since 2003 and is starting to get national attention.
If you are a twenty something and want to "get started" it is not a bad place but the party center (Bricktown) is still lackluster althought it is coming along nicely.
We have the OKC Blazers Hockey Team, The Oklahoma City Hornets in Basketball, the OKC Red Hots for Baseball, and of course the OU Sooners in nearby Norman, OK.
Before you move, visit and see if you like it. The weather changes alot and often is very unpredictable but it is still a great starter
