Brookings Or. - 6/27/2022
Brookings Oregon is one of the most beautiful places in the world and has perfect weather. I searched for a retirement home, on the beach, for nearly ten years before discovering the perfect house adjacent to Harris state beach. The incredible views of rainbow rock and the rocky coast combined with an unreal beach are simply breathtaking. Brookings and Harbor have a combined population of approximately 17,000, which makes it the perfect size for a costal community. It has all the stores and restaurants you will ever want and need while maintaining a small town atmosphere. I have travelled all over the world and have been up and down the Italian Mediterranean coast and nothing rivals Brookings Oregon- it’s truly the diamond of the American pacific Read More

Its not the Place to be. - 8/16/2021
Brookings is an interesting place, very nice scenery, and excellent weather.
The "locals" who inhabit this place are some of the most ignorant biased people you will ever find. if you want to move there, you had better be white and have a lot of money. They REALLY don't like "outsiders". the local property management companies
strive to control who lives there. Many of the people who work here do not live in Brookings. My son attended Azealia middle school, and it was a joke. The town was basically founded by whites who slaughtered the local native americans, and stole
there land. Its really just a **** hole of a Read More

Great Retirement Location! - 5/3/2021
Retired and moved here with my husband in 2020. Best decision we ever made. Amazing weather...even the rainy days are punctuated by crisp, sunny days in the winter. Not too hot or too cold. Incredible nature all around...mountains, ocean, rivers. Wonderful restaurants. Friendly people. People complain about healthcare but we've had nothing but positive experiences. Younger people may have issues with jobs, housing and education, but if you are looking for an affordable paradise to retire, look no Read More

Sleepy Beach Town - 2/14/2021
Brookings is a small town just over the California border on the west Oregon coast. We have owned a home here for 10 years. If you love nature and the slower pace of life, it’s a beautiful place to live. Multiple beaches to visit, plenty of hikes to take, the river is an added bonus mostly during the summer and there are plenty that fish. There are a vast amount of great food options in Brookings. I might add the two bakeries in town are exceptional. I call Brookings a sleepy beach town. Not much night life besides going to dinner or a movie but I think that adds to the charm of this town. You can always take a drive up the coast or to Medford for a change of pace. Shopping is minimal with two grocery stores and Fred’s Meyers as your only real option for clothing shopping. If you are looking for a small town that is safe, friendly, you enjoy the great outdoors, looking for a slower pace of life from the rat race of a big town, minutes from beaches and driving distance to bigger Read More

There is nothing here for you (aka: here me out) - 7/25/2019
Okay look. The cost of living in Brookings is absolutely ridiculous. $1000+ for two bedrooms, and lack of utilities. It's because of sights like this that make Brookings seem livable. It's not. Unless you like going to the beach every day or hiking or fishing, that's cool. But basically unless you have a three digit salary, you are not going to find a place to live comfortably, let alone at all. It's not a good place to raise your children. I grew up here. Everyone smokes pot (which isn't bad, depending on what you're looking for), there's a ton of theft and there are NO jobs around here. So if you want to work fast food be my guest because that's about all your options are. The tourists are savages and there's a homeless population like no other. Go somewhere else. Trust me, you'll be doing yourself a favor. Gold Beach/ Port Orford, and Crescent City too. Unless you're rich and retired there is nothing here for you. Do not fall into the trap. Do not allow your children to be stuck in Read More
