I have lived in Hazleton my entire life and I couldn't imagine calling any other place home. The people here are like family and the strong sense of community is something you won't find in many other cities. There are some challenges with crime and economic struggles, but the city is constantly working towards improvement. The local businesses are great and there's a lot of pride in supporting them. - John D.

I moved to Hazleton for work about a year ago and I absolutely love it. The city has a charming small-town feel, but still has all the amenities you could need. The parks and outdoor spaces are well-maintained and there's a strong focus on family-friendly activities. I also appreciate the diversity of cultures here, it's a melting pot of different backgrounds and traditions. - Maria S.

Hazleton is a tight-knit community where everyone knows your name. The downtown area has been revitalized and there are plenty of local shops and restaurants to explore. However, there are some issues with drug activity and crime in certain areas. It's important to be aware of your surroundings and take necessary precautions. Overall, I am happy living here and wouldn't want to be anywhere else. - Tom W.

Hazleton, PA aka armpit of the world - 2/12/2015
As a longtime resident of the Hazleton Area, I can tell you it is one of the worst places to live in this country and I am sorry that I didn't run the second I graduated from high school. The whole area is rundown. The job market is lousy. Most jobs in this area are for high school/college kids or people who barely completed high school, lots of low paying jobs in factories, there are few white collar jobs or good companies to work for. The housing market is even worse. As a recent divorcee who was new to renting, the rental properties that are even half decent are far and few. And if you are looking to buy a house, good luck! Every affordable home is a real fixer upper that needs a new kitchen, bathroom, roof, windows, electrical work, and for some reason a lot of these older home do not have proper electrical services in them that are up to code and that costs about $5,000. ( I know because it had to be done when I was a home owner.)However, you can go to one of the few nice Read More

Some of us are working on bringing more culture to the city and take advantage of the recent influx of immigrants to make it more interesting... it may Read More

cheap housing - 4/8/2010
cheap housing and rent, just about any house hold that makes 30 000 or more can afford a house here as they go for 60 to 80 thousand, most homes are old and have mold in the basements. there are some nicer homes that go for 90-130 and the resort properties 4-8 miles from downtown that go for 160-250 Read More
