Spartanburg, a city on the rise. - 4/1/2007
Spartanburg is one of the best cities in South Carolina. Don't let the city's stats on this page fool you. Spartanburg is in the process of restoring its beautiful and historic downtown, centered on Morgan Square. New corporate HQ's and other office buildings are going up left and right, the in-town neighborhoods are springing back to life. Restaurants are clamoring to get downtown to stay ahead of the market.
The city is much more than just its small land area. The urban population spreads for miles beyond the city boundaries, and is growing more every day.
Spartanburg's leaders are concerned with retaining business and attracting new industries. Spartanburg is the 4th largest economy and couny in SC, and being located at I-85 and I-26, it has become a major manufacturing and distribution point for many companies, including BMW North America and Milliken Corp. Spartanburg County has the highest international investment per capita in the nation.

District 7 schools are excellent, and my children got a great education. Housing is very reasonable, and the climate is great- 4 seasons with mild winters. People are very

Spartanburg, a wilting magnolia - 6/16/2005
The city of Spartanburg is slowly dying by all appearances. The local government either taxes or regulates a business out of the city. One might think that it was due to a poor economy but as soon as you cross over the Spartanburg County line into Greenville county, you see business booming . Spartanburg is not keeping up with the times in any sense of the word, it is a town that is too desparately trying to hold on to its former small town persona and is losing commerce because of this. The up side of all of this I suppose is that you can find property a bit less expensively. Also there are several local collages that help to sustain the restaurant industry end of things. If you want to buy a house inexpensively here fine, but you will have to go to Greenville to find a decent paying
