Nashville, Tennessee is known as the "Music City" and is a popular tourist destination for its vibrant music and food scene. However, for those considering living in this city, it's important to get a sense of what the local community thinks about it. With that in mind, let's take a look at some user reviews from BestPlaces.net to get a better understanding of what it's like to reside in Nashville.

According to user "Mandy", Nashville is a "great place to live" with a "strong sense of community" and "tons of opportunities for work and entertainment." She also mentions the city's "beautiful parks and green spaces" as well as its "friendly and welcoming people."

In contrast, user "John" shares a different opinion, stating that Nashville has "too much traffic" and "overcrowding." He also mentions the "expensive housing" and "lack of affordable options for young professionals."

Another user, "Samantha", highlights the diversity of Nashville, saying that it "welcomes people from all walks of life." She also mentions the city's "amazing restaurants and music venues" as well as its "strong job market."

User "Steve" expresses his love for Nashville's charm and hospitality, stating that "the people here are genuinely friendly and welcoming." He also mentions the city's "low cost of living" and "abundance of job opportunities" as reasons to love living in Nashville.

Overall, it seems that Nashville has a lot to offer, from its strong sense of community and entertainment options to its diversity and job market. However, some negatives, such as traffic and expensive housing, should also be considered before making the move to this city. Ultimately, it seems that Nashville is a place that can cater to a wide range of interests and lifestyles.

Living in Nashville - 9/15/2007
My husband and I relocated in a suburb just east of downtown Nashville (still Davidson County) in 2005. We moved here from a Maryland suburb 30 miles north of Washington, DC. Having lived "up North" most of my life, I am a serious Nashville convert! Cost of real estate is SO much more affordable, property taxes are much lower, and the people are just plain nice. OK - traffic can be a pain at times, but if you live in a major metropolitan area anywhere, there are ALWAYS traffic issues - goes with the territory. As for crime, like most places, it depends where you live. There are good areas and "bad" areas. You have to do your research. Salaries are lower than in the DC area, but overall, they are in line with the cost of living here.

Guess the biggest negative is that the state sales tax is 9.25%. OUCH! But, on the positive side, there is NO state income tax.

Bottom line - we are VERY pleased with our move here, and I don't see any reason to leave.  Read More

Nashville: - 7/11/2007
This is in response to TQ's posting about Nashville. Sir or Maam, I was born and reared in the north and educated in the northest. I must say this for the south as a whole no matter where it is Georgia, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, even Texas (maybe except Dallas, TX and Louisiana)etc. if the natives don't like you; you will never have to wonder and worry about being stabbed in the back they will let you know. TQ, unlike the north and the west where most (not all) people are polite, but they are fake and atificial. I would much rather be in a place where I know which direction people are coming from! The south is not perfect and Nashville certainly is not, but places like it; such as Charlotte, Jacksonville, Atlanta, Memphis, Houston, Raleigh and Birmingham are the salt of our Read More

social mentality of folks in Nashville and surroun - 7/11/2007
I just finished reading TQs review of Nashville and I think TQ has a persecution complex. I am originally from Kansas (born and bred)but have resided in Tennessee for over fifty years. I would not live anywhere else. Granted a lot of folks here are conservative but I have found that most are wonderful open hearted folks that will go out of their way to help you. They are easy to approach and converse with if given half a chance. I suggest that TQ get his chip off of his shoulder, put his liberal ways on the back burner for a few weeks and get out and try to meet and visit with a few of us conservatives. I believe he or she will be pleasantly surprised about his reception. Thanks for listening. And TQ come visit us some day, we will welcome you. We live in Woodbury, about fifty miles southeast of Nashville. B Read More

Think carefully before moving to Nashville - 7/10/2007
I recently moved to the Nashville area from California and it is a big difference socially. Nashville is a great place to visit, get an affordable education, wonderful music industry, great restaurants and a great place to start a business. But unless you are a conservative christian family man or woman, you are going to feel like an outcast in most respectable social circles. If your liberal the best you can do is stay close to the city. Don't be fooled. The further you venture outside the growing metropolis into the surrounding new modern burbs, you will realize diversity is structured by social segregation. There is no diversity among the educated middle or upper middle class. The south tends to be 30 years behind socially. A progressive social mentality has yet to catch up with the advancement of industry. Natives are polite and mannerable; but if they don't like you---your an outcast. You can't get a job unless they like you, regardless if you are qualified for the job. Southern Read More

Nashville is... - 7/7/2007
I'm originally from California (LA area), so coming to Nashville was a big culture shock for me. Things in the South are done differently from the rest of the country. The pace is slow and the good ol' boys mentality is still alive and well here. Nashville has urban sprawl and a small town vibe. It has a "thriving" music scene - meaning country, bluegrass, and Christian music dominate and the rest (rock, metal, jazz, classical, etc) are underground. Healthcare dominates the economy. The area has a subtropical climate, receiving ca 55inches of rain per annum and occasional snow in the winter. Not a good place if you have seasonal allergies as pollen count is often very high. People are polite, but it's difficult to establish close and meaningful relationships with native residents..especially if you obviously come from somewhere else. There is quite a bit of close-mindedness here. Nashville is often referred to as the buckle of the Bible belt because you can literally find a Read More

Considering relocating to Nashville,TN.....helpful - 6/21/2007
I have read some of the comments regarding Nashville, TN. Some were good and some were bad, I guess it just depends on the person. I am considering moving to the Nashville,TN area. I am from the North so living in the south is going to be a big change for me. I am looking for AREAS OF DIVERSITY & LOW CRIME AREAS. I realize that each state/city has their fair share of CRIME so to think that there is not going to be any would just be totaly ludicrous. Any feed back would greatly be Read More
