Nashville, Tennessee is known as the "Music City" and is a popular tourist destination for its vibrant music and food scene. A City that gets you where You're going - 1/16/2007
As I native Nashvillian I have plenty to comment about. The quality of life in the Nashville Area is outstanding. Housing is affordable, and the economy looks brighter each day. Here we boast about our low unemployment rates, an increasingly diverse population, and top schools throughtout the 15 and growing counties. (M.L. King High, Williamson County Schools, Sumner County Schools, Hume Fogg High, etc)

Nashville isnt called the "Athens of the South" for no reason. There are about 30 colleges in the area. Vanderbilt, Fisk University, TN State Univ., Belmont University, etc. We are credited in creating the first public school system in the south.

I can't write about Nashville or "The Ville" without mentioning religion. We are called the Buckle of the Bible Belt as we are home to dozens of MEGACHURCHES. Mt Zion Baptist Church has over 20,000 member and 4 locations. 3 in Nashville and 1 in Jackson, TN.( right outside of Memphis)Other notable ministries are Read More

Filthy and loaded with crime - 1/5/2007
I spent 3 years in that hell hole between 2003 and 2006. The traffic is absolutely horrible during rush hour. It's better after 8 PM. The air is absolutely filthy and there is always a chemical smell in the air with horrible ozone year round. Except for West End, Green Hills, and Williamson County, the area is loaded with red-necks. Other than country music bars and rib restaurants, there isn't much to do except fight the road rage on the rpad. MSN ranked Nashville as the 5th angriest city in the USA based on road rage and high blood pressure problems. The violent and property crime is horrendous and this is a very dangerous city. If others want to fool themselves into thinking this is a good place, let them. It is dirty, run down, crime ridden, ugly, and the road rage, tailgaters, and volume of traffic that clogges the road will make you wish you never moved to this disqusting Read More

Water skiing communities - 1/1/2007
Someone posted a question abot water skiing communities around Nashville. There are two very large lakes dammmed on the Cumberland River which have extensive lakefront property and recreation. Water skiing and fishing are both abundant. Try Hendersonville in particular. Ther cost of living there is extremely low compared to Franklin and Brentwood. The property taxes are low and Tennessee has no state income tax. I moved here from Wisconsin and I can't believe how much more house I could buy for the money and it's much newer. I'll never go Read More

nashville area - 10/23/2006
Nashville has a lot of restaurants, clubs and culture. Its way more affordable than the north. We came from Connecticut.

Historic neighborhoods are being restored and condos are flying up all over the inner city. Crime is an issue especially in East Nashville as well as pockets of other areas.

Look outside the city proper and into the surrounding counties, unless you are a devoted urbanite. Nice homes with ¼ -5 acres can still be had in about a 40 mile radius around the city.

ps 24 south is a traffic nightmare and you will need central air and access to a swimming pool for ½ the year no matter where you are, and buy a bug light.
