Affordability - 4/29/2009
Ive lived in the Austin metroplex for over 10 years now. When I look at other areas of the country, Id say it is an affordable place to live. It is more expensive than in some places in Texas though. If you dont mind the heat its a nice place to live with many activities

Round Rock- Sports Capital of Texas - 2/27/2009
Having living in Round Rock for almost 9 years, I must say that Round Rock truly lives up to its name. I really enjoy the small town feel and safety that the city offers as well as being so close to all the fun Austin offers. I just wish that traffic was better. The city does a great job of keeping up the roads and

Reasonable Housing, Good Schools - 1/12/2008
Round Rock is a suburb of Austin--roughly a 45 minute drive, due north. I have lived her over a decade and compared to other areas, it is very affordable. It would be easy to find an entry level home for around $130,000. Unfortunately, nearly ALL of the jobs are located in downtown Austin--which requires a rather lengthy commute. Since Austin is the capitol of Texas--there are plentiful State jobs--which may pay a little less that Private sectors jobs---but the generous benefits more that make up for the lower wages. The downside is the constant heat and powerful allergins in the air. We have a constant influx of people moving into this area--so one could easily move here--to start a new life. Service sector jobs are very plentiful and easy to get---as a way to start a new life. There are many Universities as well as Technicals schools for educational

Moved here 18 months ago and I can't wait to leave - 12/29/2007
I bought a home here 18 months ago and can't wait to get away from Round Rock. I researched this place prior to coming here and based on prior reviews thought it would be a great place to live. Property taxes are outrageous, RRISD schools are overcrowded, and frequent fireworks from the Dell Diamond late into school nights is more than I can bear. I plan to move this summer and am counting

No regrets moving here - 11/30/2007
We moved our family to Round Rock September 2006. We'd lived in Los Angeles, CA and tried hard to raise a family there but we were struggling. The school system was the most trying, the public schools were merely a collection of trailers, no art, music, or PE. We also found that LA had become more and more overcrowded, dirty, and stressful.
Round Rock is a very family-orientated town 20 miles north of Austin. Many of our neighbors are from California and other states, in addition to some native Texans. We are a community where all races are welcome, as a multiracial family we have felt nothing but welcome. The public schools are of a good quality, our children have art, music, and wellness(PE) most days. They also ride the school bus, a novelty for them as we would never have permitted this in LA.
The weather is something I actually like, the summer I enjoyed as I like the heat. We did have some cold days last winter, even ice for 5 days, but the cold spells don't last too

Considering a move from California - 4/28/2007
My boyfriend and I are considering a move from California to the Austin area. I have heard good things about Round Rock and Cedar Park. I know Round Rock has some good schools. We were also considering the Lakeway area. Does anyone know anything about these areas? My boyfriend is in the automotive field...does anything know anything about that field? Whether it is good or bad? I would like an area thats affordable but has lots of trees and greenery, but is also safe. Thanks. Feel free to email me.

Living in Round Rock - 3/27/2007
Home to Dell, Round Rock is an exciting community that is diversifying it's economic base and offers great quality of living. Just outside the capitol of Austin, Round Rock is growing substantially, but still offers a hometown feel. Great restaurants, exciting shopping (IKEA selected the city recently for one of its stores), and great schools and parks as well.
It's well worth looking into if you are considering a move to Central
