Spotsylvania Charm - 9/2/2019
My family has lived in Spotsylvania for 5 years, and we love it! It is part of the Washington-Baltimore metropolitan area. There is truly something for everyone here. With the lovely charm of a small town, plus the conveniences of a city, Spotsylvania is ideally located midway between DC and Richmond (approx 60 miles to DC; 50 miles to Richmond). Agreeably it is a bit of a commute to the DC area, but as someone that has lived in many areas in Northern VA, I feel the positives greatly outweigh any negatives. Let's face it, traffic in the DC area is bad no matter where you live. Yes, commuting to the DC area via car can be time consuming, but thankfully, there are two commuter trains (one in Spotsylvania and the other in Fredericksburg) going from Spotsylvania to the DC area. Bottom line, you just have to ask yourself whether you want to live in a more laid back/less stressful area of the metro & have a longer commute if you choose to work in the DC area. Spotsylvania Va - 8/19/2014
Rural area convenient to historic places such a George Washington's Farm and Civil War Battlefields. Halfway (about an hours drive) between Richmond, Va and Washington DC. Lake Anna has water recreation. Soon to be home to an auto racing track and there are plans to move an minor league baseball team of the Washington Nationals nearby. Minutes from downtown Federicksburg. Quite neighborhood with little crime but traffic congestion is a slight problem during rush hour.  Read More

I love the Spotsylvania County - 5/19/2007
Originally from the North, we moved to Virginia in 1998. We first resided in Northern VA as renters, which I also liked, easy commute, plenty of things for county residence to do. Realizing we could not afford a Single Family Home. We decided to look further South. We have been in Spotsylvania County since 2003. ‘Spotsy’ as it is nicknamed is the last stop for the Northern VA region. The nice part is they have a rail that runs into DC, so you don’t have to deal with the horrible traffic; the transit system does however need some updating, better hours for the commuter. The county is growing very fast. The schools are good, seems like a new school is being added to the County every year since we have been here. It seems like the housing market has almost doubled in price since we have been here. If you are raising a family, it is definitely a place you should keep in your radar. I only have one recommendation to the County is we need more things for the youth to do, parks, Read More

Stafford Va. - 4/14/2007
Stafford was not a selection so I picked the closes community, Spotsylvania. I have lived in Stafford all of my life (50 years so far). Stafford is norht of Spotsylvania. The housing cost has gone up in the last several years. It is impossible for young people to live in the area. All of the best paying jobs are north of Stafford which means you have to commute. Traffic is a nighmare. I plan to retire in 5 years and leave the area. I love Stafford however the cost of living and traffic greaty brings down the quality of Read More
