Seattle, Washington is a major city located in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States. However, like any city, it has its own unique set of pros and cons when it comes to living there.

According to reviews on BestPlaces.net, many users have shared their experiences living in Seattle. Overall, it seems that the city's natural beauty and diverse population are highly praised, while the high cost of living and traffic are common complaints. Similarly, user "David" says, "The scenery in Seattle is breathtaking. You have mountains, lakes, and forests all within reach." However, the cost of living is a recurring concern. User "Emily" states, "The cost of living here is exorbitant. It's difficult to find affordable housing and the traffic is terrible." Another user, "Mark", adds, "I love Seattle but I wish it was more affordable. The high cost of living can make it challenging to enjoy all the city has to offer."

Beautiful summers, rainy/drizzly/depressing winter - 9/10/2006
I lived in Seattle after college and loved the beautiful scenery...when you can see it through the clouds and rain. It's a great area to live for outdoor recreation. But the traffic is horrendous. And if you like sunshine, forget it. The gloomy, grey, drizzly fall, winter, and spring seems like an eternity! Bottom line...beautiful place to live in the summer, depressing and dreary the other 9 Read More

Another one from California - 9/9/2006
I have been here for about a month from California. I know, another Californian. So far I really love this place. The girls are very beautiful up here. That really caught me by surprise, since everyone was telling me how "grungy" and unkept they are. Far from it. I love the coffee, the clouds, the rain, the sun, and the music everywhere. I was deciding between Seattle and Austin. Austin is still on the list, but so far I like Seattle. Seattle is very beautiful in many Read More

I love Seattle BUT....... - 9/7/2006
I lived in Seattle for a few years and still love it there but everybody is moving there. I don't mind these from California but those from the east coast are nasty. They bring their bad driving habits. The drivers used to be polite and let pedestrians cross in the crosswalks but not anymore. These east coast drivers are clueless about crosswalk laws. I've been almost hit several times and the license plates were from Virginia and Read More

Native born Seattleite who wishes he never left - 8/31/2006
Native born Seattleite (24 years) who wishes he never would have left. I have read all the opinions of Seattle both good and bad but for Seattle is always will be home. Like alot other people I left in pursuit of affordable housing which in my mind equaled a better quality of life boy I was wrong. I have lived in other places and frankly, none of them compare to the Seattle area in culture, people, and scenery. I currently live in Phoenix and I hate it!!! no culture its hell hot six months out of the year, the people aren't progressive or logical in their thinking, and its brown and flat. I do however own property in Phoenix and in a year or so am looking to sell it and purchase property in the Seattle area. Then I can go home whenever I Read More

Great but not perfect...and what place is? - 8/30/2006
Seattle is a great place to live. But you can't look at Seattle alone for the reason why. Within just a few hours from Seattel there is rainforsts, deserts, mountains, oceanside, plains....anything you can imagine Seattle has it closeby. This is so nice all year long because there is really no reason to ever be bored. There are cultural spots- the Seattle Symphony, 5th Ave and Seattle Rep Theaters, Seattle Art Museum- just to name a few. You also have the Museum of Flight, the Underground Tour, the Seattle Aquarium, the Pacific Science Center, the Woodland Park Zoo (with a GORGEOUS rose garden)- for educational and fun outings. You ahve multiple spots int he Puget Sound for Great skiing, boarding, hiking, camping, boating, fishing, horseback riding, kayating, sailing, etc....you name it and the Puget Sound has it! On top of that there are lots of club- more opening up regularly, and even better bars and pubs!
Yes it has gotten very expensive to live here lately. But I Read More

I love Seattle - 8/14/2006
What kind of person would think that. Of course Seattle has clean fresh air and nice people. The person above is the one that is unsociable. I've lived in Seattle for six years now, and everyone is friendly. Don't listen to that cokeworm above. Aside from the phenomenal beauty and majestic skyline, Seattle has wonderfully kind people who are sociable. The reason why this buttplug above says Seattle isn't sociable is because he or she is the one that cannot make any Read More

Seattle Sounds WONDERFUL! - 8/9/2006
I'd love to live in Seattle, with its acres and acres of natural beauty, mild seasons, and TONS of rain (I love gray skies and rainy days)! The only problem is, I don't have buckets of cash. So, perhaps Olmypia or Tacoma or another nearby--and less expensive!--city would suit me Read More

Gotta have a high income - 8/2/2006
I relocated here from the Detroit area seven months ago. To be honest, I am already looking at other places to move to. Unless you have a lot of money, this is not a good place to live. Don't get me wrong, the city is beautiful and I am most impressed at the intercity parks. There is also a lot of culture here and nightlife. But you gotta have wads of cash or forget it. I relocated my business here thinking that it would thrive and be more affordable. There is no state income tax but everything costs so much more. People do not seem to want to pay much for consulting, computer training, and tax preparation. Not anymore than Michiganians would pay, but the costs are sky high. I am paying $425 per month for a 12X12 room in shared housing. I have to share a kitchen, and bathroom with many other people. Seattle is not worth this type of compromise. I look forward to leaving within the next Read More
