I love Milwaukee, and you might too - 6/7/2023
I have lived in Milwaukee for about 5 years. I really like the area, but I also plan on moving away soon. It is a unique city that has its charm though. Here is my personal list of pros and cons I have about it.

--Pros--
-Generally a very affordable place to live: Living in Milwaukee has been really nice on my wallet. I never really feel like I'm gonna be destitute at the end of the month, even if I decide to splurge on extra things during the month.
-Laid back: So this may be a con for someone looking for a big, bustling city, but for me, it feels like Milwaukee has the amenities of a huge city but at the pace of a smaller town. Sure, there are plenty of areas in the city that are still surrounded by a lot of loud noise, but I never really had any issues finding a quieter part of town to live.
-Food and drink: If you like beer and cheese, Milwaukee is the place to be. Some of my favorite beers have been from local breweries. Plus, Wisconsin cheese is Read More

The Cream City Greats! - 4/14/2022
I've gone to Milwaukee many times for vacation, and it is a beautiful city with great lakeside views and beaches, stunning river walks, and of course the delicous cheese curds. It is one of the greatest cities I have ever been to, especially with its varied culture, Oktoberfest, contagious spirit, and more! I hope you can enjoy the expierence Read More

Could be bad, could be good. It depends - 8/4/2021
I've lived in this city for ~16 years (my whole life) and it's ok, but your experience of the city in entirely based on where you live/visit in the city. Unfortunately, the city's past was full of segregational housing practices that largely shaped the city, for better and for worse. Neighborhoods with higher populations of minorities like latinos and black people were given much fewer opportunities to grow financially, while neighborhoods with higher white populations were given more. This practice, known as redlining, lead to extreme poverty and where there's poverty, there's often violence. However, some of the neighborhoods have seen growth. For example, the area i'm from once had a relatively large hispanic/latino population and was at one point very poor, it has since the early 2000s become a decent place to live. For me, I have had a relatively positive experience growing up in the city, but I understand not everone here has. Still though, Milwaukee can be a great place to live Read More

DO NOT MOVE HERE - 6/26/2021
I lived here For over 40 years. Let me tell you This Milwaukee became a sh*t hole . I give it a -0
It’s ghetto. WAY TOO much crime. I mean you got a watch out for flying bullets onthe north and east side, And they’re moving to the southside. People do not know how to drive too many accidents. This is also including the east side of Milwaukee too.
On The north side and the southside mostly you got a watch out for people taking kids for prostituting .
West Allis area is still nice but it’s getting junky. South-Milwaukee and Cudahay is Racist. And there is nothing to do there. There’s also Brookfield it’s not worth living in either They have high taxes and pricey mortgage or rent
The schools on the northside and the southside are ghetto. Way too many drop outs. Their score rating is between zero and five. And West Allis is also ratings 0-5 .
The weather sucks. Way too much snow longer winters.
The housing market is ridiculous and So are Read More

Milwaukee, Home Of Strong Ethics and Honesty - 7/23/2020
I have lived in New York City, Washington, D.C., Ft. Lauderdale, Milwaukee, Louisville, Cincinnati, Salt Lake City, and Seattle. Of all these cities, I would choose Milwaukee to live over all of them. The only negative is winter. Housing costs, food costs, entertainment costs are all very low. Property taxes are astronomical, but that is balanced by the low cost. The people of Milwaukee are kind, giving, accepting and know how to have a good time. You will make friends. The airport is a joy, and the infrastructure is excellent. Medical care is some of the best in the world, and if you pick the right suburb, your kids will be educated so well, college will be easy for them Professional sports, great festivals, innovative dining, and a cool music scene are available and most importantly, accessible. You don’t have to be a billionaire to enjoy Milwaukee’s best happenings. Yet, what truly makes the city stand out are the ethics and honesty of its citizens. When you consider the Read More

Milwaukee and Chicago are completely different. - 5/25/2020
I've read all the posts written on Chicago and Milwaukee. I can agree and disagree on many comments but most were superficial. There is no comparison when comparing Chicago and Milwaukee. First, I agree how Chicago has downgraded and that began with the launch of Obama, backed by the big 'O' , and neither are part of Chicago now. Chicago is the 'Windy City' because of politicians; good, bad, wrong or right, it's the pulse of everything. Obama and Oprah both got to where they are because of Chicago politics, so as corrupt as Chicago is, it's far more progressive, open and advanced than any city in this nation. Furthermore, Chicago has always been a first rate city, and from the beginning, segregated. But it is a city filled and fueled by hard work, passion, history, culture, diversity, ethnicity, education, technology, the arts, love, hate, greed and generosity. It was and is all the best and worst things of any first rate city. Milwaukee doesn't even qualify and never will. All the Read More
