Great but Struggling - 4/23/2008
I was born and raised in Michigan. I really love it. I love the outdoors, the beauty, the seasons, and even the snow! I know, but someone has to like it!! Our economy is terrible. Everything gets more expensive, but wages and jobs get worse and worse. I suppose this is true for nearly every place in the US right now, but it's particularly awful here in Michigan. They are building too many houses, and how many of them are really affordable? They are destroying the wildlife to build houses people can't afford to buy or keep. I live in Gregory, and just hope that no one wants to move there! Development is great, but not at the cost of our natural resources. I hope my kids still have trees to look at when they grow up. People need to quit wanting to move out into the country and destroy it.
I hope Michigan can turn around soon, but it doesn't look like that's going to happen for a while. Health care is expensive, jobs are scarce, and housing is ridiculous.

Michigan Economy - 4/11/2008
The economy in Michigan is one of the worst in the country. Jobs are being lost in great numbers and the housing market is very poor. Michigan is one of the highest states of house forclosures. This is not a state to come to unless it is strictly for retirement. We have some beautiful areas in the north and west part of the

Michigan Rollercoaster - 3/16/2008
As a life long Michigander, I can say that living here is like riding a roller-coaster. I love the 4 seasons, but you never know what your going to get here. Long hot summers some years, to chilly wet summers for others. Winters can be long and cold, and winter sports/activities (snowmobiling, skiing, ice fishing)make it go by quickly. But then some years winter is wet, ugly, and long with little snow or ice for fun. Economy mirrors the climate.
When its good its great, but when the bottom falls out (which it does on a regular basis)people really suffer here. The one state recession michigan is experiencing now for several years, has caused me to want off the ride. Looking to move
