Relocating from New Jersey-Is it truly a better li - 6/28/2006
I am contemplating relocating from Northern New Jersey. The cost of living has skyrocketed. I have a young family and looking for a better, easier life than what the NorthEast can offer anylonger. We have lived there all our lives and uncomfortable to move. We were turned on to the Triangle area and have done research regarding the cost of living, schools etc. Is it truly a wise move???? If anyone has moved from the Northeast with in teh past 5 year, shed some light on this for us we would really apprecite it. Is it waht you expected???? Is it a better easier life?????

Raleigh, from a native who moved away and came bac - 6/1/2006
I am responding to Christopher from California, but anyone else can take this for what it's worth:
Let me tell you where I am coming from to give these comments some context. Grew up in Raleigh, lived there from birth until 1981, lived there again for a short while in early 90's, parents and brother still live there so I am visiting the town 8 to 10 times a year. I am early 40's, Caucasian, married with a child, spiritual protestant not attached to a specific congregation, lean to the right on fiscal and national security issues and just left of center on social issues, a professional with a master's degree, one of two in my extended family to get a master's degree, one of the few family members to ever travel and live outside the south (lived in Indiana for a while, lived in Portland OR for seven years) ... Moved back to NC in 2004.
I think Raleigh is a nice town, but it has changed tremendously since I grew up there. My parents moved there in 1961 and it

SOOOOO CONFUSED!!! Wanting to relocate from NC - 4/15/2006
If a person is single at 49/no children where do they go? I am an avid bicyclist, but yet I love bookstores/coffee houses. I may be old, but not dead and love the scenery of historical downtowns and riverwalks. Not into bars, but love greenery/water/flowering trees and some great biking paths, and lots of them, or even bike lanes(not mountain biking) Wouldn't mind trading the humidity for a bit cooler climate in the summer.....! Where do I begin my searches? Cannot afford to live in CA, if so that is where I would be.....LOL. Or colorado is a litte above my means, anyone have any ideas! Just not a desert person anyhow! Any places have amenities that are yet still affordable for somehow on their own that doesn't have alot of
