What BestPlaces Users Say about Texas

The state of Texas is known for its diverse landscapes, vibrant culture, and booming economy. With cities like Austin, Dallas, and Houston, it attracts residents from all over the country. However, before making the move, it's important to know what current residents have to say about living in this particular place. After scouring through numerous user reviews on BestPlaces.net, it is clear that opinions are mixed. While some individuals rave about the state's beauty and opportunities, others express concerns about its climate and cost of living. Here are four excerpts from different user reviews that provide insight into what it's like to live in Texas.

1. "I absolutely love living in Texas! The people are friendly, the food is amazing, and there's always something to do. Plus, the cost of living is affordable compared to other states I've lived in. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else." - Sarah M.

2. "I moved to Texas for work, and while I appreciate the job opportunities, the weather is unbearable. The summers are scorching hot and the humidity is unbearable. I miss the four seasons and being able to enjoy outdoor activities without melting." - John P.

3. "I've lived in Texas my whole life and I have no complaints. The state has a rich history and there's always something new to discover. However, the traffic in cities like Dallas and Houston can be a nightmare and the cost of living continues to rise." - Maria R.

4. "I moved to Texas thinking it would be a great place to raise my family, but I was disappointed. The school systems are underfunded and overcrowded, and the lack of affordable healthcare is concerning. We're now looking to relocate to a different state." - Mark L.

More Emphasis on Education - 1/24/2008
The state of Texas—like the rest of the U.S. — needs to focus more on education. The state government needs to give more incentives to students who excel in school and motivate the ones who do not. With this approach, higher education is more assessable and students who struggle in school get help. America is a great country and needs to be the most educated one as Read More

North Texas Booming - 9/29/2007
North Texas (Dallas/Fort Worth and surrounding cities) is developing at an incredible pace.
I live just north of Frisco (25 miles north of Dallas) and work in their school district. Last year alone they opened 13 new schools and this year they again opened another 7 schools. The housing starts are very high. They are fervently working to improve the infrastructure to meet the incredible influx of people moving into the area. As of the end of September, the state completed another section of the Dallas Tollway, reaching all the way to US 380. And the growth is particularly exploding along the 380 corridor between McKinney in the east to Denton in the west. In the 2 years I've been here I've come to believe that Texas saying "it wasn't here Read More

Houston; the new city to me ...... - 9/3/2007
Iam new to the state of Texas and the Houston area. I love the greenary and sceinaries while I am driving. Texan drivers have no curtisy for fellow drivers. Giving signals to change the lane/exit means "go ahead and hit me" as they try to speed and pass the signaling car rather than give the "right of way". No wonders the auto accident rate is high in Texas. I may be better off not to signal when changing lane and/or exit any more!

Can the Department of Motor Vehicle place more emphasis on this part of educating the prospective drivers? It may help to decrease auto Read More

Big and Beautiful - 8/30/2007
I'm a native Texan and if you are looking for Mountains - visit the Davis Mountain Area. If you are looking for fishing and boating - we have the lakes and gulf areas. If you are looking for the 4-season climate - go to the DFW Metro area. If you are looking for a dryer climate - go to West Texas area. If you are looking for a great nightlife and friendly people - come to the Houston area. You guess it I not only a native Texan, but also a native Read More

I live in New Braunfels, Texas. We moved here in 05 because of the cost of living and job opportunities, as well as having family 3.5 hours east.
