What BestPlaces Users Say about Virginia

BestPlaces.net is a popular website for individuals who are seeking information about different places to live in the United States. One of the top-rated states on this website is Virginia, known for its rich history, diverse population, and beautiful landscapes. To get a better understanding of what it's like to live in Virginia, I have gathered user reviews from the website and summarized them below.

According to user reviews on BestPlaces.net, Virginia is a great place to call home. Many reviewers praise the state for its low crime rates, good schools, and overall quality of life. For example, user "JohnD" shares, "I have lived in Virginia for over 20 years and I have never felt unsafe. The schools here are excellent, and my family and I have enjoyed a good quality of life." Similarly, user "Liz89" states, "I have lived in Virginia my entire life and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else. The schools are great for kids, and there are plenty of job opportunities here." Both of these reviews highlight the safety and educational opportunities in Virginia.

Others also appreciate the diverse culture and friendly community in Virginia. User "SamanthaH" writes, "I moved to Virginia from a big city and I love the slower pace of life here. The people are so friendly and welcoming, and there is a great mix of cultures and backgrounds." User "MarkS" echoes this sentiment, saying, "Virginia has a little bit of everything. You can find big cities, small towns, and everything in between. It's a melting pot of cultures and I love that about this state." These reviews showcase the diversity and welcoming nature of Virginia.

However, some reviewers do mention the high cost of living in certain areas of Virginia. User "EmilyG" states, "I have lived in Northern Virginia my whole life and the cost of living here is getting out of control. It's hard to afford a decent home or even rent." Similarly, user "DavidB" shares, "The cost of living in Virginia Beach is definitely higher than I expected. It's a popular tourist destination, so everything is marked up." These reviews caution potential residents about the expenses in certain parts of Virginia.

In summary, user reviews on BestPlaces.net reveal that Virginia is a state with a strong sense of community, low crime rates, and good educational opportunities. Its diverse culture and range of landscapes make it an appealing place to live. However, certain areas may have a higher cost of living. Overall, it seems that Virginia has a lot to offer for those looking for a new place to call home.

" Aspects of living in Norfolk, VA" - 6/25/2006
I am orginally from Brooklyn,NY so living here has been like culture shock.
It is a fairly good place to establish a family. However, my prospective is from a low income stand point. The lower income situation is quite strict and controlled at best. As with any state I imagine the divide between the three classes ( lower, middle and upper) is quite easy to recognize.
The crime rate in Norfolk; on a scale from 1 to 10 is about 4.
However, high paying jobs are few. I think this is due to the 'commom wealth'

Due to the lack of cultural diversity in it's City planning.
Tidewater , as the region is called, is different from say Richmond and North Carolina. It has a 'middle' effect. Overall though if you are established or if you want to start new in a much slower paced environment then the city of Norfolk,VA is for Read More

In the winter, Virginia is often on the boundary between true snow and rain, giving us that wonderful Wintry Mix. Probably one quarter of our winter precipitation is sleet or ice, and though we get snow several times each year, the temperatures don't stay low enough long enough to keep it on the Read More
