High Cost of "Best Places" - 8/17/2008
Washington is a beautiful state. However, so are the other states in our Country. It is a shame that the marketing effort to sell Washington as one of the "best places" to live, has caused it to be a place where the average earner is having a very difficult time being able to afford to live... Housing costs are outlandish and do not reflect the best of the

Kitsap Penninsula - 5/6/2008
The Kitsap penninsula is a different world from mainland Puget Sound. It is rural, quiet, not a lot of traffic.
True, we get 60 inches of rain a year and sometime have a little trouble getting Spring started.
And it can be a 25 mile round trip to a grocery store. There aren't many jobs either.
But the trees, the water, the clean air, and the quiet are heaven if you like that sort of thing.
And Silverdale has pretty much everything you could ever want in a city if you get bored.
I love it

Living in Sequim - 4/25/2008
I was raised first in Somerville and then Arlington, MA. Moved to Pelham, NH after marrying. Lived in San Diego almost 13 years before moving here to Sequim, WA (pronounced like squid but with an 'm' at the end).
Sequim is a gorgeous location and very unique in that it does not really rain quite enough here. It sits in the rainshadow of the Olympic Mts. However, the largest drawback is that although it never gets too cold in the winter months, it never gets warm enough during the summer months! We have lived here 5-1/2 years now and are missing heat. If it gets to 80 deg. everyone who has lived here a long time starts complaining but those of us who have had real summers want these days to linger.
Having friends over in the summertime? Better make sure you eat before 5 pm or the breezes will have your guests asking for blankets (and we live in-town, not by the water). There are times that the sun shines nicely enough but the wind will come up and

Washington is a Great Place, Just the Politics are screwed!
