Although Anchorage has its problems, its unique aspects more than make up for them. One of the last frontiers on Earth is literally right out your backdoor, ready and waiting to be explored. Kids love waking up to find moose in the yard, and who can resist a snowball fight or a troop of snowmen? The excellent standards set and met by the area's schools are another benefit for children. You can be five minutes from malls and department stores and not have a zero lot line, although this trend is fading and are more prevalent in older homes. All in all, Anchorage is the perfect refuge for people of all ages who enjoy both modern conveniences and the ability to get away from it all for days, weeks, or longer in varying levels of nearby wilderness.
