Review of Asheville, North Carolina

Asheville: Was quaint, now very different.
Star Rating - 1/7/2006
Asheville is a beutiful mountain resort city in the heart of Western NC. Having lived here for over 35 years, I've seen it evolve from a quaint, southern, mountain town to a Bohemian, alternative lifestyle, miniature San Fransisco type city. I am not against the alternative lifestyle folks that now inhabit the city, I just miss the town I once knew and grew up in. An influx of traffic and increased cost of living has really made it hard to live here, yet, I still say it is one of the best places in the world to live. Be aware that people moving in from Florida and the Northern ststes (at a record rate) have caused the cost of living and housing to skyrocket here. Asheville is still a great city and I hope this helps you understand the way it is here.
