thinking of a move

I am a 39 year old single man living in the COLD northern midwest. I'm not originially from where I live and am looking to move to an area that is more open minded, has a better climate and where there would be more opportunity to meet someone to share my live with. I am straight but not the least bit homophobic. I am in sales and would look to continue that, at least to get started. I have heard many good things about Asheville and have to say that it is currently at the top of my list for relocation. Can anyone share anything with me about life there? It scores well on this site in all the categories, but that doesn't always tell the true story. I need to make a careful choice as I am no longer a kid and I can't just pick up and go wherever I want to go.
