Review of Athens, West Virginia

Great Little Town
Star Rating - 9/15/2010
I went to Concord College which is now Concord University. I pledged Phi Sigma Phi National Fraternity Phi Mu chapter in 2002, my freshman year. I loved everything about Athens. Besides your occasional drunken brawl, there wasn't much violence. There was one cop there when I was there, but I have heard they have finally hired another one. There aren't alot of cities in America that you can walk down the street on a Sat night at 2 am without getting yelled at, something thrown at you by a passing car, or getting seriously injured by some deliquent. I would recommend Athens to anyone that has reliable transportation, since Athens really doesn't have many places for employment. The larger cities with malls, fast food joints, etc. are Princeton WV (15 mins away) and Bluefield WV which is right beside Princeton. The Virginia State line isn't too far off either, so there is many things to go and do. Athens is the greatest little town in the world.
