Review of Augusta, Georgia

More like Disgusta
Star Rating - 2/22/2006
I had the misfortune of being stuck in Disgusta during medical school about years ago. It was one of the most depressing places I have ever lived in my entire life. The city is devoid of culture. The locals consider Red Lobster and Applebees to be "fine dining." Ethnic cuisine, aside from soulfood and bad Tex-Mex ,is nearly nonexistant. The downtown is practically abandoned and looks like the set of some post apocalyptic zombie movie. For the most part the people are very uneducated and xenophobic. For someone who is of Asian descent, I did not feel very welcomed. There are very few, if any, nightlife spots for young educated single professionals. For a small city, the crime is very high. The economy is in the toilet, where job growth depends on the opening of a new fast food restaurant or Wal-mart. The humidity during the summer is unbearable as well as this horrible stench from a paper mill. All in all, the city sucks.
