With the beautiful Kenduskeag Stream dividing the east and west sides and the majestic Penobscot flowing by, Bangor has a beautiful city site. It is also a city of parks (it even has a city forest). Maybe most important in this category: Bangor is the gateway to the North Woods--an easy drive to Moosehead Lake, Baxter State Park (one of the largest parks in North America), and Mt. Katahdin--and to Acadia National Park.
