Single mum looking to relocate to Charlotte

Originally from England and lived in Tucson, AZ, San Antonio, TX. Currently living in Orlando, FL for the last 3 years completing a Bachelors degree I have decided I have had enough and I am considering moving to Charlotte, NC. My children are mixed so I am curious to the reception we will recieve. The cost of living in Orlando is outragious and I figured Charlotte will allow us a better quality of life. Dating sucks in Orlando, and I am still single after 3 years. I blame the tourism for that, men don't have to work too hard to win a date for the night.
I haven't begun job searching yet, but hoping to find a job in the Public Relations field with a medical background and 4 years in the USAF. Any feedback on Charlotte, the schools, nightlife, best neighbourhoods etc will be much appreciated.
