Relocating from TEXAS

I’m looking forward to relocating to Charlotte, NC. How is the job market there? I have over 15 years of administration support and 5 years of childcare (owned my own home daycare). I will not have a job, but I will have some cash saved up, where is a nice place for a low-income family to live with good schools? The area I live in doesn't have public transporation and I have a really old car, does Charlotte have public transporation everywhere are in just select areas?
