I'm new to charlotte, been here for about 9 months.. My only concern so far is that if charlotte is so diverse as the city is potrayed then why don't the city allow or support more black owned business! That's one of the reasons why Bob Johnson left as the head of the BOB cats. Go ahead google it he made similar comments and I find this to be true. To claim a city of diversity, means we all have the same opportunities.

This is such BS. Being a city of diversity has nothing to do with having the "same opportunities." Diversity has to do with a group of people who are made up of mixed races and cultures. Shared opportunity has to do with the free market...two completely different things. Further, your assumption is that there is some barrier for certain races inside of the local government that prevent equal opportunity. The equal opportunity act, actually works in reverse. Further more, it is clear that you don't and have never began a small business. If you had, you would quickly see that that all of the forms and government processes that you must go through are race/culture blind. They are just forms that you have to fill out. You are also assuming that Bob Johnson was some authority figure. He wasn't, just a guy who b*tched and complained and instead of trying to help, packed up and moved. Now, if you are suggesting that equal opportunity doesn't exist because of an educational barrier or even a resource gap, that may be true. But how do you suppose you solve that? Have everyone who has worked hard to start their business be required to give some of their money to the government so that the government can manage the "same opportunity?" That's called communism, didn't work so well for Russia. But feel free to move there and give it a try for yourself. Stop complaining, get to work and offer a solution.

The only reason that you even know his views is because he worked hard to earn a platform to speak from...too bad he wasn't more thoughtful about how to use that platform. Charlotte sucks plain and simple...It calls it self diverse.....PUHLEEZE!!!!! No real sense of community in Charlotte...Very much a family oriented town with not much for singles to do...Only thing going for it is Cost of Living....Sometimes its not about cost of living...it's about living life. Charlotte is an ok place to live..but to live life....choose elsewhere. REAL TALK.
