Review of Charlotte, North Carolina

Great, but no coastline!
Star Rating - 7/15/2009
I lived in Charlotte for about 5 years. There are upscale "clique" neighborhoods, trendy neighborhoods, and dirt street neighborhoods, as you like. The culture life is positive (rhetoric intentional), except not many college football teams around. Shopping is excellent, churches are excellent (some may be clique-ish), entertainment is excellent. To get to the beach, though, is a major undertaking. There are nearby lakes that take SOME of th burden, but a "day at the beach" is a day driving.
Many and various businesses, small and large. Some big banks, but who cares, the Daltons? Industry and bar-be-cue restaurants abound.
Interesting place, but not much for sailing. I live in Raleigh now, I'd prefer Charlotte.
