Home Sweet Home

My parents settled in Fort Collins after I graduated from high school, but I have lived there off and on since then. Everytime my husband and I return, we just feel like we are coming home. Every other place we look to live is simply a comparison to Fort Collins. It's a college town, so education is important. Crime is low, we feel safe everywhere. It is rich in the arts, culture, and a great little downtown area! We love how clean and well planned out the city is. Large clean steets, nice medians, cross walks, large north-south and east-west streets for easy travel, greenways, bike lanes, walking/bike trails, close to camping and hiking, the list goes on. If you want to decide where to put your kids in school, it will be difficult because they all feed into four great high schools. If you have to pull any negative out of me it would be that there is a lot of growth to keep up with, not a lot of diversity, train runs through center of town... I'm pulling at straws here because I love this town!
As for neighborhoods... Southeast is booming with growth right now, upper middle class, lots of children. Around the college are a lot of rentals with college kids. Northside is known for it's hispanic population and lower income families. More affordable housing is just north in Wellington. Small town feel up north in Laporte. Southwest has mix of newer and older homes, not growing quite like the east side. Old town is charming with very old homes being renovated and updated. Something for everyone! However, if you aren't sure, that's okay, we don't want it to get too crowded :-)
