Relocating From Dallas/Ft. Worth, TX to Georgia!

I am a young, white, single male (26 years old) and will be relocating from Dallas/Ft. Worth,TX to Georgia in the middle of August. I have been trying to research safe, yet entertaining areas for single people my age. I know that Atlanta is going to be an obvious answer when it comes to entertainment, but I hear that crime can be a concern, and that the traffic can be unbearable.
Are there any Georgia residents who can recommend a safe place outside of Atlanta for someone like myself to live? I just need help with people who are familiar with the better cities/areas to live in, as I am a stranger to the state of GA. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! I look forward to being there soon!
