Moving from Austin- is Greensboro right for us?

Can no longer afford the cost of living in Austin, Tx. Searching for a medium size town to move to in North Carolina. Family of 2 middle aged adults, one college age son and 1 retired parent. We’re hoping to find a friendly, affordable, liberal town. We don’t drink so the bar lifestyle is not for us, but we do enjoy arts and entertainment. We are not interested in being neighbors to super conservative, conspiracy minded people. Is Greensboro a good place for us?

I think this is the place for you then... Its everything you are looking for. Its a mixed bag when it comes to liberal/conservative but for a mid sized city in the south I, as a liberal, feel pretty comfortable and you would have no problem finding lots of like minded people. Arts/Entertainment is really big here.

I live in greensboro. I have been here since 2015. Single, no kids, im 35. Greensboro has crime like other places, but it is ok. If you can live in or near the brown summit, NC area ( which is right near Greensboro) then that is a perfect place. I like living here. Charlotte and raleight are more expensive, but with more things to do, but greensboro is only a short drive from both of those locations.
