Greenville SC makes #4 in Top 10 Places to relocat
Star Rating - 5/26/2008
As a Greenville native, I can't think of a better place to live than Greenville, SC. Our city is perfectly located between the mountains and the ocean - just a short drive to each. Our downtown is vibrant and full of shops and amazing restaurants; or enjoys Reedy River Falls in the heart of downtown a spectacular water fall that allows for a great relaxing area for all ages. If baseball is your game, check out the Greenville Drive baseball stadium or stroll on a tour of Mice-On-Main: a great walking trail experience for a new comer to the area. If you enjoy art, visit our First Monday's art event on the first Monday of the month, view several open galleries to see our local artist while enjoying a nice glass of wine. If you just love the outdoors, our weather is truly a four season event that will cause you to settle down and never want to leave. Take one visit to our lovely city and you will call it home.

As a Native do you find the other postings about it being hard to find a job as an outsider true? Is it really hard to be accepted and break into the culture?

There is no doubt about it,Greenville is truly a beautiful city that keeps growing more and more each year. The best part about it is if your white, you will fit in just fine but if you happen to be African American, well, that's another story. In the two years I lived there,I experienced a lot of prejudice among white people both in business and out in the public. As a whole too,in the metro parts of greenville,we are talking not quite 20% population of African Americans,so the majority are white and they don't hesitate to let you know that it's "there town".Now if anyone reading this thinks it's just me,think again.I did have fellow black friends and neighbors there who told me they experienced a lot of prejudice among white people there almost on a constant basis.Don't get me wrong,I found some decent white folks there who are just like I am when it comes to races and color, but the racism there does seem to dominate which is why I decided to leave and relocate to Macon Ga.But if your into moving to a "funfilled" city, don't let me be a hindrance, but to all my brotheres out there considering a move to Greenville, just look at both sides of the city and be forewarned.
