How is the housing for a retiree?
Star Rating - 6/15/2009
Hi Greenville folks. What neighborhoods around Greenville offer affordable communities for under $300,000...with a great view and about an acre of land. We are hoping to retire to either the Asheville or Greenville areas and I heard Greenville is far less expensive...is that true?

If you are looking for artsy, funky, and eclectic, Asheville is the place for you. If you are looking for shopping, dining, and 428,000 of your closest friends (county population)then Greenville is your place. Hendersonville, NC and Easley, SC are popular with retirees. If you are looking for mountain views and acreage, try Liberty or Pickens, SC. In this region, finding a house that meets your requirements should be fairly easy, unless you are looking for lake frontage, a golf course community, or a McMansion.
