Coming to Texas...Here's what to expect.

Having lived in Dallas/Ft. Worth Texas for 34 years I can speak for what to expect from the climate. I've often said that D/FW Texas wants to be hot. We joke that Texas has 4 seasons, almost Summer, Summer, still Summer and Christmas. We have had 75-80 degrees on Christmas several times over the last 10 years; and I have never seen a white Christmas. The heat starts to build in April and lasts through Septmeber/October with a nearly unbearable July, August and September. 15 days average of sweltering 100 degrees + per year during the summer months. 2006 had 30+ days, which was not uncommon. Average daily highs around 97 degrees for months.
Winter is mostly mild. November and December are cool. January is cold to cool. Cold snaps never lasting longer than a 2-3 days. February is cold to cool. Mid to late February is starts to become warm again. I will wear shorts 10 months a year. T-shirts for 9 months. Sweaters 3-4 weeks, taking it off in the afternoons.
