Lived here for 37 years --moved out of the city because of industry(chemical plants)pollution, oil spills, rude Texas drivers coming to casinos, excessive insurance cost(housing/auto) and horrible traffic. However; the food is excellent(one thing we miss --but we can cook it). Other postitive thing is growth and accessibilty of restaurants and stores. One other thing--South Lake Charles people are to worried about keeping up with the each other (the housing is riduculous) and other areas such as Westlake, Sulphur are discouraged against moving to by the keepers of the flame. Lake Charles residents think chemical pollution from the plants across the lake does not blow across in their direction--it does--wind blows in all directions-get a clue. Check out the enviromental ratings for Lake Charles here better yet watch the documentary "Blue Vinyl".
